wearing in new leathers

Postby ozx6r » Wed Aug 16, 2006 4:29 pm

the leathers feel fine while standing but once on the bike they are tight at the armour

is it normal for the armour in leather pants to be a bit uncomfortable for a while and if so how long until it wears in?

cheers

pat.

You didn't try the leathers on whilst sitting on a bike?

Leathers will give a little over time, and the armour will settle into place, but if you find they are uncomfortable now, that's probably how they'll stay.

I always find a good long slide along the road at say 40-50kmh helps loosen them up 8)

Got a good tip whilst wearing in my new leathers many months ago, get them damp (Cheers Marty). The theory is that the leather is more plyable when wet and will mould to your body - when it drys it will set in that mould. Perfect fitting leathers, in theory. I rode for about 15 mins in rain before putting my watherproofs on, and it certainly did seem to do the trick.

wanna talk about uncomfortable.

i did my first track day in brand new leathers and had boxer shorts on. Not recommended.

According to simmo (i think), wear them around the house for a month or so.

dude..i swear by the "wet leather" theory.... so much so that i wore my new leathers for a few hours around the house.....then went outside (summer) and hosed myself down a little bit....dry em in shade.... then after uve worn em a few times....then put the leather waterproofer on em...

u may have tried this but remove the armour to ensure it is not twisted or incorrectly fitted. also check to ensure the armour isn't too big for the pocket. If still no good then wet the leather around wherever it's tight, and go for a ride till it dries!

That's cos Maree likes Simmo in leather....

The main idea is not to think you are a size smaller than what you really are... and I'm still talking about bike leathers.

cheers
