what Shifty said.

brand-new RF800 in 2001, it is just about to be replaced by a Diabolic II.

My MX helmet is an ARAI MXA cost me $490 in Dec 94 & needs to be replaced, except they cost too damn much now & they only make the fixed full face now.

have a Shoei Tokudome at present. top quality helmet. my head seems to fit a shoei quite well, so i am happy to keep using them.

used to have an Arai, but price was too high. but with the cost of those high-end helmets, i used a Vemar or CMS helmet for racing. why? coz when i crashed, it only cost me $150 & not $1000. i wrote off the Arai in race crash, and then moved to the others.
some will say "a cheap head wears a cheap helmet", but i couldn't afford to fork out $1000 on a whim...

That is true to a certain extend. Some would find themselves paying too much for design/artwork and neglect safety.
I'm not a big HJC fan but I got a HJC, simply becoz it fits well and it's safe. Being both SNELL and DOT approved and half the price of other 'top of the range' helmets.
If I can get the same amount of protection with half the price, why not?
Fancy design/artwork can't save my head in an accident.

Like Mr Kaw I also have a Nitro. One of the cheaper ones too, and it does the job fine. Might even get me another one down the track, cannot hurt to have a spare.

I got a HJC helmet, and it's hard to say whether it's better than others as I haven't ridden for any long period of time with other helmets. Basically price, fit and the fact that it wasn't cheap polycarbonate got me hooked onto it.

Having said that, the Shoei and Arai helmets felt absolutely awesome if you can afford the 700 or 800 dollar ones.

This poll is so wrong, it left off KBC....

I have a KBC VR-1 and was very happy with it until recently... I am now beginning to find that it is getting a bit roomy.... That said, I ride to work every day, so I go through helmets quicker than most people...

KBC helmets are of a very high standard, but without cost an arm and three legs....
The world is round. It has no point.

My KBC was OK for a while, but...

It's quite low at the back, which restricts head movement when crouched
It's heavier than most others
The padding compresses with use, leaving it too big and moving around.

Moving from the KBC to the Shoei was the best, it's like a new level of freedom
