But I always got away with middle-range stuff on my commute - DriRider gortex jacket with rain and winter liner (~$400 from memory), goretex winter gloves (~$100), rain over-pants ($100, not the $50 rubbish), and goretex boots ($400, brand eludes me at the moment).

At worst I got a few wet spots on the 1.5hr (in the rain) commute in lengthy major downpours - regular rain was normally no issue.
I still have them all - and the dririder jacket has survived 2 major offs with little to show for it.

On the draggins front - I've always used them. Never had the draggin jeans, always used the draggin cargos.
Comfy, survived a couple of offs well, and warmer than the jeans in the winter. But because they're looser they're cooler in the summer too.
You can get a bit of an abrasion from the kevlar in an off (I did on my knee - I wouldn't suggest going commando), you wouldn't get that in leathers.

I'm not saying they never have...but I have never seen Goretex used in a Dri-Rider jacket??? If they do, I wish I knew before I bought my exxie Goretex stuff!!! :x

WHen you buy stuff in bike shops, some ignorant sales people will call other products Goretex. But unless it has a Goretex logo on it, then it's some other alternative waterproofing material, which in my experience just don't compare. Reissa is one such copy.

Had a goretex tag on the jacket from memory, but of course I don't have the tag anymore.
So memory could be faulty, and I could've been misled.

I have rjays voyage 2 Jacket $139, rjays voyager 2 pants $129, both water and wind proof, dri rider touring boots (cant remember the name  ) $120, rjays thinsulate lined gloves with kevlar fingers $90, have ridden in pouring rain (from whittlesea to bendigo 130km) stayed dry except for damp around my wrists, apart from that I was dry as a bone.

I've had Dri Rider gear and it has served me well but when it's time to replace it Dainese will get the nod. I've finally came to the realisation (as have so many others that have been doing this for a long time) that I am better off spending that little bit more and getting the best you can. It's not like you are going to replace this stuff every year and the better performance is well worth the extra money spent.

Dainese D-dry jacket and pants all the way. Very warm and 100% waterproof, no need for wet weather gear ever.
I rode 2 days in the pissing down rain over the mountains, in a T-shirt and boxers and not once felt cold or had water penetrate the suit.... I was bone dry. Worth the $1000.

Rode in the rain 2nite after work, 1st time actually i wore a hoodie under my crappy Yamaha jacket and a fluro vest and down bottom i wore skins, jeans and yellow water proof fireman pants hehe, i was soo warm and not wet at all. So i guess ill be buying another jacket and something water proof over it? and a pair of draggins and also boots.

you might be able to change it, can't hurt to try (If it's too big with the liner in it'll be huge with it out) ! :kuda:
