leathers brands

Mon Oct 20, 2008 10:38 pm

hey guys, just been looking around at some gear (leathers) to see whats about... seen what seems like a couple of good deals...

RST Rift 2 piece suit for $749 with a new RTS helmet (could be the trackday/emergency helmet)
AGV Sport Blade 2 2 piece suit for $590...

both are zip together and so would allow me to use the jackets alone but the AGV sport pants don't come with knee sliders...

not neccesarily a deal breaker but something to think about...

the RST suits are the ones they hire out at EC and they fit me very well and allow for good movement so i'd be buying a known product...

i know there may not be much you knwo about them but maybe if one or two members have had experience with AGV sport leathers then that would be helpful :D

cheers

Owen

I had a pair of AGV sports gloves for years. They were great. They held together and were very comfortable. Sorry I only had the gloves and notthe leathers that you want. If theRTS's fit and you are familiar with them then you would be better off looking at those.

I've had a few sets over the years but the best by far are my current ones from Collins.

You ring them and give them your measurements and they send them down. If theres a prob with size when you get them you return them at their cost and they send you a replacement. All for about $800. The pretty good quality wise and they're pretty good to deal with.

Not that you wanted to know about Collins

I think Watties got the RST's, they look the biz

Cheers

Prices you have quoted for the RST Rift seem ok & 2 piece is bloody handy for trips, especially in summer ;)

my rst's are pretty good. a couple of downs sides are;

- flimbsy sippers
- the pants dont have a lot of lateral movement. (hard to get your knee out) but im an "odd" size

i got em for about 500 i think. but i had to get them in gixxer blue/ no grey or black left in my size.

if you go try them on, take your bike and go sit on it with them on. or at least one in their showroom. 8)

considering you have finally just got your knee down and also bought a bigger steed i suggest whatever you do you make sure they have knee sliders,

for the price and considering the are pretty well fitted you cant go past the collins

Now you just need a fullysickbro gsxr1000 with a foolyschichbro Yoshi can and you too could be a walking billboard for the power of advertising :D

.... just kidding, the A* gear is apparently pretty good quality but I think it's a bit overpriced and over-promoted.

Photo mike turned up on Saturay with some Rhino leathers, they look the biz I must say. Daresay he hasn't been down the road in em yet but ask him if he'll take the 600 for a slide somewhere, he's usually pretty obliging :)

I have "tested" my last two sets of leathers, hence I will only wear one brand these days. Yes they cost more - but I know they work and have saved me from a major injury (according to the doctors/physio).

Just remember cheap shite is just that - cheap shite. It may be cheap but does it work.............I proved on the Monday on the way home from the island my philosophy works, buy good gear - it works - it lasts nuff said ;) ;)

I've never worn them but RST seem to be OK, Mitchell Pirotta has been wearing them all year in the Aus Superstock and they still looked pretty good on the weekend. The other brand you may want to look at is Collins as Glen and Dave have said.
