Scooters and skirts

Tue Feb 06, 2007 6:09 pm

Just wondering if anyone else thinks it's really dumb to not wear any gear just because it's only a scooter? I'm pretty sure binning one at 60 hurts just as much as any other bike. Every scooter I see the rider has no gear on what so ever. I've even seen women on their way to work in their skirt and heels. Idiocy! Rant over.

Yeah u see this a lot in the city, I think they should be in riding gear but then again so should lots more bike riders :?

It's quite possible to come off a scooter, I've done it and can say that the road is just as hard however you get there.

Some of the deviates on here wouldn't let a little rash stop them, most of them have probably had it before ! LOL !

...inside a paradigm!

I see dozens of girls travelling to work in the city with 3/4 pants, short-sleeved blouses, and in the case of one asian lady, her open-face helmet on upside down . Then again, I also see guys wearing suits and work shoes on scooters, so it's not all a girl thing .

I saw a guy on a white R1 this morning wearing work trousers, short sleeved work shirt and work shoes, so I suppose it's not just scooters either.

Pretty stupid really, I'd like their insurance payout for roadrash adjusted downwards in relation to how little they wear...or their insurance premiums raised accordingly. Then mine might drop slightly .

I probably can't comment really as I always wear jeans or work pants riding, do wear gloves, boots and jacket though...

As an aside, htf can you wear a helmet upside down, surely you gotta realise that it just doesn't feel quite right somehow???

yea valid points mick.... we saw today a dude in full squid gear (sandshoes, tshirt & shorts) on an R1... i see shitloads of ppl on scooters in inappropriate gear every day... ive even seen 3 or 4 of em riding scooters with pushbike helmets on!!

honestly i dunno whether they are that stupid, they dont have the $$ ...or maybe there just uneducated??

b4 i knew abt the pain of falling off, and was assosciated with this group, i use to squid daily not thinking anything of it...

now i still do it, and i think "geez im cool"
