Knee Armour

Postby Dinnes » Thu Jul 09, 2009 7:59 pm

Hi, I've been lurking for a while now, only started riding late last year. Mostly just commuting into uni but will occasionally venture into the hills. I've been looking into getting some pants (currently am just wearing normal jeans), but don't want to wear leathers around campus (or muck around getting changed every day). But from looking around here draggins are a no go? I did come across this http://www.kneedraggers.com/details/Dainese_Knee_V--614093.html?loomia_si=t0:a16:g2:r4:c0.248455:b17615886. Which I thought looked pretty good, not much help if you land on your ass, but was wondering if anyone here has experience with something similar, or any other suggestions?

Hi Dinnes, welcome to KSRC :D
Seriously get some good gear, textile pants (like Dririder) with armor or leather pants with armor... how hard is it to change pants at uni?
The problem is when commuting you are more susceptible to getting hit,& can also be the times that you take the easy option with regards to protective clothing, unfortunately not a good combination :?

I have the Icon ones and they look very similar but are probably less exxy. I don't go out in draggins without them.

Knox also make some that are similar.

I realise that leathers would be the safest option and I do have a locker, which I could stash them in (currently using it to keep my jacket in when I'm there all day. It's a bit too small for my helmet though) if it came to that, but I just didn't really want the extra hassle.

Which is why I liked the idea of the armour. I looked at the icon ones as well, and I think alpinestars has a set. There were a few complaints about the straps on the icon ones, did you find them ok?

I had no dramas with them at all. They are heaps comfier than standard dirt bike armour as they wrap most the way around the leg.

Where are you located??? If you're a Sydney person and you're coming to PITS on Sunday I can bring them up so you can have a squizz if you want.

I'm in Adelaide so I guess not. :P Thanks though.
Do many stores keep this kind of thing in stock, or would I have to order online? I might have a look around, see if they fit before I decide. They do sound like the kind of thing I want. It can't hurt to have a bit more armour on.

Mine were off ebay somewhere - can't tell you where though as the man actually bought them for himself and I pinched them. I havent seen them stocked anywhere in Sydney though as they aren't a common item.
