Tail Bag

Postby ZXRJed » Tue Sep 09, 2008 9:09 am

I have a question for ZXRobyn.

I hope you don,t mind me re-posting your pic. But I spotted this photo while browsing through some old posts and spotted this pic of your bike. I have been looking for a Tail Bag that would suit my model bike, but all the ones I have found are too small, and I don't want to put a rack on.

This one on yours looks plenty big enough. Would you be able to tell me what brand it is? :D And where you got it from.

Thanks

Not sure about Robyns, but I have a Ventura Imola and it is big enough to fit a full size helmet. It is expandable, so you can have it zipped up smaller (as in the picture) or unzip it to the larger size.

No probs in posting the pic - noice pic it is too lmao! ;) ;) ;) Gotta luv the Great Ocean Road. :D :D

It's an RJays bag which has travelled the world with me (literally). I actually bought it from Metropolitan M/C Spares at Silverwater a few years back.

I had my upholsterer change the straps from those useless plastic clip together things to real deal steel tie downs that you thread the strap thru (hopefully if you zoom in on these pics you should be able to see what I mean).
I also had him put the same straps on the top so that I can tie on my tent n sleeping bag (only this doesn't work real well when you need to use the inbuilt raincoat over the bag  ).

Actually when I was a Metropolitan a couple of weeks ago, they had a bag on one of the bikes that I thought looked pretty good - I think it was bout $115 . . . so it may be worth checking out if you not too far from Silverwater?

I've been really happy with the changes I made. The straps work a treat imo!! If you are interested in changing straps etc on a bag, I can give you the details of my upholsterer. 8) 8) 8)

Thanks very much for the Info :D

I had looked at some other brands, but they all seemed a bit small  And to go to a bigger size you had to put a rack on, which I don't want to do.

Yours looks plenty big enough to put all your gear in, especially with the added straps on top - Great Idea.

Nice looking ZXR you have there too, Don't you just love old ZXR's :cheesy: I am a bit biased though.

Thanks Again.

Gday mate,

Have got a bit of touring planned so decided to pick up a tail and pannier pack. Stumbled across a sale for oxford luggage.

Got the set for aud120.00 due to the sale which I reckon is a score and a half on decent kit

The tail pack itself is great. Under aud50.00 and it does expand. Has quite a few anchor points and comes with ocky straps (plus spares) plus wet weather cover.
