I have an '06 Gumby with aftermarket clip on bars of an unknown brand as they came with the bike when I bought it.
I need to replace my handlebar grips.
I do not know if I have 1 inch or 7/8 inch bars.
Are they referring to the circumference of the bars?
I mean, what the fuck is 7/8 of an inch?

The size is referring to the diameter of the bar, if you have got some verniers just measure across an exposed part of the bar. From memory the left bar is normally 22mm and the right one 24mm to fit over the throtle tube.

Most standard bars are 22mm (7/8"), I think some of the stupid expensive water pumps have 1" bars

Pop outside tomorrow morning at around 5.30am and give the lemon tree a sprinkle . You will get an idea of what 7/8 of an inch looks like .

(Only try this in Victoria)

You were not far off.
Thank you for the advice boys.
I'll be ordering my 7/8" grips soon.
