Restoring colour to old plastic...

Not really the right place to put this, but some might find it useful.

The other day I noticed just how crap the grey plastic in front of my rear wheel arches started to look. I did some quick research on the net to find out what would be the best way to restore the colour to the plastic and one suggestion I came across was.....

Peanut butter!!

Willing to give anything (well, almost anything) a shot at least once, I headed out to the drive way with some rags and a jar of peanut butter.

To my suprise, the plastic now looks fantastic!!!

If your plastics are looking a little drap, give peanut butter a shot.

I can tell you right now, peanut butter is *The Best* stuff for using in mousetraps.....ever. Nothing works as well.

Will give the plastic on the Prado a nudge with this stuff Jase, and see how it goes......

aaahh...no

the peanut butter works because...yes it has an oil base and some roughage in it..to flatten and smooth the plastics
(and dont use crunchy )
the best other stuff is similar...like Plexus (hydrocarbon based and with something to ' polish' the plastics

stuff like Armourall only has an oil base and imparts a shiny surface to plastics which will wear off/wash off
stuff like tyre shine has a silicon base and also just puts a shiny layer on


warning...do not use peanut butter or similar on clear acrylics or polycarbonate, you will leave a cloudy smear on it
which is very hard to remove

guess I didnt work i the plastics industry for 15 years for nothing
