My DIY Rear Fender Eliminator Job 56k

Hey guys, I've recently been thinking of buying a rear fender eliminator kit off ebay/mca/bikebiz, been doing some researching and found out their pretty expensive for a piece of metal, $150 to be exact. So I've created my own DIY fender eliminator which took approx. 6 hours? I wanted to contribute this to the forum as it is my second modification to my bike, first being my yoshimura exhaust i purchased from the US.

BTW this is a 2010 Kawasaki Ninja 250R

This is what the bike looked like before, BTW I have my P's now hahaha!



First thing i did was remove the back fairings, passenger seat, rider seat, back light and cables that were attached to it and it turned out like this.




Next thing i did was remove the number plate light from the rear fender



I used a hacksaw and cut the rear fender into 5 pieces LOL



After that i headed to bunnings and purchased some mounting brackets, sandpaper and went to MCA to purchase
some LED lights for my number plate.

sanded it down.

bought theses LED lights from MCA for $20. Screwed them in and just rewired them to the battery pack. wooo




This was the Final result

IN TOTAL I ONLY SPENT $33, SAVED MYSELF $150

Great write up and pic's......... Yeah, probably shouldn't have cut the old fender into 5 pieces might need it one day.......... I know it's probably a bit costly on a newer bike but for others, might be better to get a second fender from the wreckers and carve it up and keep the stocker for another day

i have done this to my zxr250 and no defects yet been about 4 months, i think most police officers wouldnt know how it looks standard!

DIY is awesome Will & the pics are great, but I have to agree with the Smithman chop up a spare, if you get defected you have one intact to whack back on to get past the pits, plus your resale price could be compromised if the potential owner thinks the job is a bit rough. Another thing is to use lock nuts not locktite that way you will never loose your nuts
Edit, keep an eye out on those cheep imported brackets rusting
