Here are some pics of the new tank.
So far I've taken the stickers off ( which i had to cut out from under the clear coat ) and primed those areas and one spot on top near the fuel
cap opening where there was a small ding, which i had fixed at work with a bit of tig welding.
Next will be the colour.
More pics to come.

Hey man, The colour looks tops..

I'm currently looking at respraying my zx6 track bike. Any chance you could post a quick tutorial... or even a few tips to get started..

I have a fairly reasonable compressor and spray gun available at work, but haven't got a clue about which paint to buy or even where to get it from...
Wouldn't know the first thing about preparation either...

Yeah Rob I am, but only the clear coat , after i put the stickers back on.
The colour is a bass coat that i can paint 2K clear over.

Having a good compressor & spray gun at your disposal is half the battle. ;)

The most important thing to get right is the prep work eg:
Making sure that if you have Bogged up any damage , that you rub back with the correct
grades of wet & dry, use filler putty where needed and DONT be lazy and cut any corners if you want a mickey mouse job.
But i dont think you need to be that critical for a track bike.

As for what type of paint to use, i just asked a local paint supplier & told him what i was doing and he pointed me in the right direction.

So I have to ask, are you trying to put 2Pak over an acrylic?
The whole idea about 2 pak is that it does not need a clear coat :o
