Quick action throttle

Postby robracer » Mon Jun 16, 2008 8:17 pm

Anyone got any info about where to get a good quality quick action throttle... Looking for one that is able to use the original switch block.
Thanks

Which bike? If it's for the 10R try {url=http://zx-10r.net/forum/showthread.php?t=12698&highlight=riffleman]Riffleman linky[/url]- posted anywhere in the world for $25US. I think he makes them from a piece of plumbing pipe...

Mine fitted great and I think was worthwhile.

Thanks Guys but I am looking for a complete unit as the pluming pipe & add on bits will not give the adjustment required & being for the 400 the flat slide carbs have a really heavy return spring so a progressive cam action would be best but the cheapest landed is about $300 aus & has 4 different pieces for cable adjustment, a cheap crappy plastic one would probably not last because of the snap from the return spring... yes it is really BAD... these are FCR flatslides not the genuine article. when I say able to use the original switch block I meant in conjunction so therefore the throttle housing needs to be skinny, There seems to be lots of UK suppliers but I would prefer to buy in the US if possible.

Rob
The one that came on my zxr (with the flatslides) was a bit dodgy and ran into the housing through a nylon bush that was wearing away. It was hard to twist and the cap fell of, so I bought a cheap one on ebay to see what they were like. It was similar to the one below, same brand, but had a ball bearing roller (not sure if this one does, though it says it does at the bottom). It worked fine and for the price I'd recommend it, it was one of the few things on the bike that was no trouble.. :?

Heres a domino one too.. very similar.

Thanks Dave The domino ones are Trick & bloody expensive .... I will have a look at both... I am just concerned that the switch block will still fit but I can put it on the other side of the Brake mount leaving more room for this sort of set up... just had a look & it should work ;) cheers

Sorry to butt into the thread here but like learning new things . .(pardon my newbieness) ..

What does a quick action throttle do? ..

Can I assume that she opens up the carbs quicker with less twist on the wrist?? .. or ..other?

Cheers.

And it was good

Richo my little 400 make's power between 10,000 & 14,000 revs & haveing a throttle that is aprox 60 - 70 % turn to WOT (wide open throttle) will be perfect, there are even ones that are available the have a cam action so the power increase is not even to the throttle turn, it is intensified

Rob - I bunged a Magura throttle assembly onto the trackbike. It is quick action alright - about 1/8 turn !! just right for the track.

Getting a really good q/a throttle into a stock housing is a bit hard, but it sounds like you have done the job anyway - I am always happy to help newbies out with the good old 'electrical conduit' q/a throttle........as Hoffy says, it works a treat !! :P

(its not plumbing pipe, that shit weighs a ton !!  )

see you on the road girlfriend !!!

Gos I am using the original switch block housing for the switches only... the QA throttle needs to be a seperate unit, but yeah its sorted now
