quick throttle

After talking to Madkaw regarding the throttle mod he did on his 10 to reduce the revolution of his throttle (hit full throttle with less turn required), I was thinking I really want to do this to the ZRX. I am really surprized with the bikes performance on full throttle and would like to get there easier and more often & quicker (so call me greedy).

I found this link which looks like it may be easier to do than I think

I will update with pics over weekend when I do it.

Thoughts, Opinions?

Yeah I know, I read it

Just I remember a guy around here somewhere relying on zip ties holding his gear linkage together on Austin MG Maestro back in '88(the old ball and socket linkage that had worn, good old Austin, 4 years old and linkage was fucked).

Just so happened that the zips decided to shit themselves on a run back from Heathrow airport, fuckin no 1st,2nd gear, clutch wasn't to clever when I got home.

So when they proclaim to use zip ties gives me a bit of a shiver on a high performance bike  ,it's up to you bud, but think of it this way, why do they make brake, clutch and throttle cables out of cable

yeah, It's not actually supporting anything therefore cant brake and cause damage. It is simply a solid piece of plastic mounted to another piece of plastic to add some diameter and quicken the throttle.
I have seen the sleeves that you can buy and put in there, but that seems *unsafer* as it is not fixed and could move around inside the housing.

I thinks its a good idea, but I will probably use epoxy as this will provide permanent adhesion.

Why not just replace the whole throttle set up with one off a MX bike or similar?
Magura is the go..... one with a enduro cam on one side (slower) and MX on the other like my old KTM had.....

I would say Yes - on my '94 ZX7 I used a throttle barrel from a Yamaha R1 (p/n YA4YR-26240-02-00) which offers about 5/8 turn max. I also got rid of the push cable. No place for it on the barrel and there is a return spring on the carbs anyway.
