What's good?
What's bad?
ie if I'm looking for a kit what should I make sure is in it?
Are the kits with compressed air actually useful or are they gimmicky?
Is it better to put together a kit myself? If so with what?

I've spent 2 years riding so far and never had a puncture.
Now I've had 2 in 2 weeks - I figure it's time to get a kit.

The air can seals the tyre ok. I tried it on my car and it was good. I dont know if they have one for the bike.

It actually worked good because i pulled up at the servo with the puncture at 3am and didnt take it in to the tyre joint until 10 the next day.

I've heard that if you pump that goo into your tyre, that blocks the hole, then the tyre people can't patch or plug the tyre. Leaving you to buy a brand newie.

Still, probably better than being stuck in the middle of no where with a puncture.

I'd heard about that goo - wasn't going to go anywhere near it.

They do 4x4 tyres all the time and they take a beating.
I dont know anything about using them so I'm keen to find out too

I hava cupla experiences...
firstly a few years ago...used the foam stuff in a can
fixed puncture OK ...but only ½ blew tyre up...and it stuffed the
tyre valve
and the tyre dealer hated it...lucky it was a mates bike....phew!
and
I then bought a kit with comprssed air in it...used it on my brothers
bike...the trick with these is the hole repair thingy....
once the hole is fixed (remove nail or screw etc) the little air
bottles are ok
but the trick is the big knitting type thingy you put the tyre repair
rubber thingy thru and then jam this in the tyre carcass...
get that right..no worries....
I would go the proper kit routine...despite the 'knack' required
