wont even search for the thread - from the flux capacitor remark i think i am better off going up upgrading my hand grips to get a bit more power

Anyone out there remember the old ad in Australasian Dirt Bike (ADB), when Honest Muz used to write for them ??

There was a picture of some skanky-looking shopfront, with a couple of crappy dirtbike accesories, and up on the wall were 2 'Powerbands'.........a 'Narrow' powerband for all the racerboys, and a 'Wide' powerband for the rest of us....... they were *actual* rubber bands, one of course was long and skinny, and the othere was short and f-a-t........

"Boy - get your arse up to the Electrical shop - I need a Short Circuit, and don't come back till they give you one........"

Someone on kawiforums disected something simaler to this and found it was a petentiometer type device that hooked up to the airbox sender but seeing as how there wasnt enough solder inside to hold it all together it was largly considered to be shite.

you know one of these might just help a little.....

Ok... I am confused....

Does it work or not... everyone here is saying no.... But is it true that the voltage fluctuates a lot? If so, wouldnt that affect the spark from the plugs? and if that is true, would a power regulator improve performance? I mean, the theory is sound if it is true...

Obviously a motorcycle has a regulator rectifier for the voltage coming from the motor to the battery (for charging) but does the same apply for the other way? Is it required?

i think there is some thruth to the theory.

as for the flux capacitor, it could be a goer

Don't be confused mate, these things are *released* to unsuspecting punters every year..........they are, in every respect, a total WOFTAM......

they *will not* increase your HP/mileage/light intensity/battery life/erection durability at all.......

Your voltage output from the 'alternator' surely does vary - and it is the job of the (a) rectifier to modify the AC output to a DC output, and the regulator to 'regulate' the charging current to the battery.
Once the charging current is 'rectified' to DC, and 'regulated' to 12.8v (approx), then *all is well*, and these *bolt-on* Power Boosters will do nothing SFA zip to your standard electrical system. They will not increase the voltage to the coils, or make the spark plugs 'sparkier' or anything like that........it doesn't apply *the other way* in other words....and definitely isn't required....

hahahaha loved reading his satire, it was the only mag I ever subscribed to.

Do you remember the drill short holes in worn knobby tires for "newgrip" then that clown replying in the next issue saying he holed a tyre ?

But he gave me an idea!!!
Instead of drilling holes I used the trusty 4" angle grinder to square up the edges on the knobbies and cut some grooves across, worked well for about 1hr mind you the IT465 would chew tyres like nothing I had ever seen
