My battery needs replacing. Left bike for 3 days, had trouble starting it, has been fine all week, until this morning (3/2/06). Chatting to a fellow biker at the lights, went to take off, engine stops. Fellow biker leaves, turns round to check if i am OK, I give him thumbs up, he heads off to work.
Try to start bike, but it struggled, got it going, changed from main fuel tank to reserve (that's why it stopped in the first place).
Anyway, was wondering if anyone in Brisbane could possibly run me to a bike shop on Saturday (4/2/06) to pick up a new battery?
PM me for contact details, if ya don't have 'em already.

Ya nonce, everytime i've bought a battery "dry" the acid has been kept in a sealed container with 2mm plastic that you have a bit of a fun time cutting the nipple off to extract the acid. So it'd be quite sae & sit on the floor of the car without problems (i did it, without a passenger to hold it steady and the worst it did was slip about the carpet a couple cm on sharp corners

I figured that, but i was responding to the battery acid on the floor comment

.
Marshall? uhm you can try your chances and call, but i think you'll find they probably dont, and given the myriad of battery types out there beyond the bog standard 6-8Ah mini brick size used by a lot of bikes. Chances grow slimmer if you dont have one of them.....
What kinda batteries are in a 9 anyhoo?

is it a sealed no maitanance batery or a have to put water in it occaisonaly one.
Have a look and see if there are any dry cells and if there is carefully top it up till it just covers the plates in there and have another go.
no smoking while you are at it either bateries are full of hydrogeon and acid.
If you can get it to go or charge it up a bit on a charger then ride the bike to a batery world place(red dave knows about these) and get them to put a new battery if it needs one.

Not sure, but if it starts in the morning, I could take it there. There is one in Capalaba I think?

have a look in the yellow pages and give them a ring.
I went to one at chermside and got a battery tender for my bike because it spends so much time just sitting there it just maintains a preset voltage in the battery and if it goes under the voltage it changes to charge till the batteries voltage is where it should be.
Also noticed a heap of diferent type bike batteries as in sealed no maitance type and glass mat gel ones and those rather expencive oddesy jobbies.

Big orange sucker worth about 300 bucks.
http://www.odysseybatteries.com/
Taxies eat a battery at the rate of one every 8 weeks because of the constant charge they recieve and oven like underbonnet tempretures and if zx9rkings still works it hasnt got a dead cell probably just low on water or a screwed regulater so better to take it to a shop for a looksee.

Umm noone has mentioned RACV or indeed even RACV, rather they ,entioned Marshall which are a battery specialist. Whehter they know a motorbike battery from a vibrator battery remains the unanswered question
King, if it can last naother 2 weeks get a new battery for your birthday
