lots a problems

since i've had the 9 for about 4 months now, i think it's time i got rid of the zx2.
however, i started it on the w/end, and it took about 5 minutes to warm up to the right revs with the choke on.
if i touched the throttle at anytime before this, it would cut the revs and it even stalled at one point.
took it for a thrash to clear the cob-webs-out and thought i had fixed the problem, it has been sitting idle for quite some time now. but it still does it.
and it really bogs down low revs in 1st, which isn't too much of a problem, cos you can just drop the clutch at 10 grand without even getting a tank slapper.
but this causes another problem.
the clutch slips under load in 3rd mostly but also 4th.
any time you give it a wrist-full actually it seems to slip.
now concidering the wopping 30hp or whatever it is. i'm guessing i need a new clutch/springs.
so i come to you all for a few possible reasons for the running-like-crap problem and somewhere i can buy a clutch kit that will at least deliver to australia. somewhere i can get a new one in melbourne would be best. but if there is another solution, speak up.

running issue...???
possibly dud fuel (its been sitting there 4 months!)
get some new stuff....
its also possible the dud fuel has killed the plugs
I would also check your air filter (full of shit..??)
and clean it out
Does the ZX2r have a fuel filter? if so ..get another
also check that the battery is fully charged
weak electrics mean a weak spark = not much go
clutch?

everything that Yoda advised, and change the oil + filter......then see how the clutch slipping is.

Pull the carbies off and clear the gunk that has formed and blocked the pilot jets by sitting around for 4 months.
Classic symptoms of pilot blockage in your description, it runs OK when revved because carburation has moved off the pilot jet and onto the main jet at high revs.
Clutch - what you said.

There is a place in reso or thomo somewhere that I was dealing with when I had my ZX2R... no idea what the name of the place was, but they had the clutch plates and springs available, and were getting in rotors as well..
I think they were abit of a performance place... that's about all I can tell ya i'm sorry..

Agree mate,
change oil and filter before you touch the clutch.
Faltering could be any of Smittys or the pilot jets.
luck

check your clutch adjustment too.. might have caused you to fry the clutch plates in the past..
But oil certainly sounds like the first port of call...

id agree with changing the oil and making sure the clutch is adjusted right...
but before lashing out on new bits to get it ready for sale, it would be worth pulling the clutch plates out and checking them... if they measure to within spec, try give them a rub on some fine/medium grade concrete (or even use sand paper) incase they are slightly glazed... if its still no good, you can shim up the clutch springs...
my 9R was slipping its clutch once i started to get it tuned right for the full system, but everything measured to within spec, clutch plates looked new, springs were long enough... so i stuck some washers under the springs and it was fine after that
used 10mm washers and had to machine them out to about 14mm, worked great
