Which exhaust system / can do you use?

Why did you choose it? is it a style thing? was there a noticeable difference? How much did you spend? Did you dyno before and after? did you have to make any carburetion changes? Any intake mods? Would you choose the same again?
What did you fit it to?

Good question!
I've long wanted to ask such a question.

After a lot of research, I went with a staintune, the other one I was really considering was the micron tri colour titanium but at around 1k for just the can went the sensible option, you can get it reskinned by staintune in case of an off, and if you really want to save the weight difference between titanium and stainless steel, go on a diet or ditch the sidestand !
If I was looking again, I'd get the micron, just becuase, guess I'm a tosser after all

Formula 1, good can, even without a tune it seems to have helped things along, sounds very rich and burbly.
Great company to deal with, and attaching the full system was even easier than fitting OEM exhausts to my bike (well there IS only one can on the new one!).
cost $810 delivered. Gpx 750R, feel the powah!!

I started out with the standard and found that between 3500 and 4000rpm carburetion was a little bit ordinary, hesitant if you will. Mind you having jumped straight of a zzr 250 to the ZX9R this was a fair call. and so I went in search of an aftermarket solution. Had an alloy Remus for a while and that cured the flat spot. And then came along the Muzzy which not only looked better on the bike in carbon fibre but seemed to give a much sharper throttle response in the higher rev range. It certainly howls louder at full throttle while still being very civil down low about town.

Bugger forgot to answer my own questions.
The remus I bought for $280 second hand and then eventualy did a straight swap for the muzzy.
I haven't had the bike dyno'ed but throttle response seems much crisper. I have reffited the standard can twice on ocassion to give myself a comparison.
Carburation - The needles have been lifted by .5mm
And definitely style was a big drive. Kawasaki = Muzzy
The look. The sound. The performance

Put the Akrapovic on the 10R cause it came with the track kit
told they are good and seemed to make a big differance
but that could be that the restrictor is taken out
does pop a bit on decelaration but will get that fixed with a power commander and dyno tune soon
Had a Full Megacycle system on the GPz1000RX i had
was a well made, great preformance, and sounded fantastic
and very cost effective

Went with the Muzzys cans after a fair bit of research and ease of installation.
The main reason was to get rid of weight and the catalytic convertors,
I managed to buy these cheaper here than I could have imported them from the States
Yes I have a Factory Pro stage 1 jet kit installed this was done in conjunction with a dyno with sniffer. A dyno run was done just before the kit was fitted and after. The jet kit was installed by Lae Racing (highly recommended).
The mufflers and jet kit transformed this bike, a lot more power down low got rid of the flat spot around 4000 rpm and fixed the off idle responce.
The only intake mod is a K&N filter.
Yes I would do this mod again tomorrow but maybe with a different exhaust ie 4 into 2 into 1 Micron (because they are the only ones who make a 4 into 1 that exits on the RHS)
ZZR 1200.
I think this answers all your questions.

Micron Carbon. No Modding, jetting etc. Just slipped her on.
I did notice it seems to have more puff at the top end, on the rare occasion I have enough road to get there.
And it is heaps lighter than stock.

staintune- it was on it when i got the bike (the bike is an ex-staintune superstock race bike) ...i used to work there so i knew the owner of the bike, and i kno the build quality..so i kept the can...
no mods made to EFI etc but it was dyno'd and ran better with the can...plus abt 2 kg lighter..and sexier..and noisier..no..thats it, its the vibe

my bike came with a full akra system with Ti pipe when i got it from the auctions
was running like a bag of hammers when i got it, somebody had put tiny main jets in there for some reason... fitted a jet kit and +4 timing advancer and removed the mesh from the air filter, so far have found best settings are pretty close to stock, 155 mains, half a clip leaner for the needles and 2mm leaner on the floats

I bought a complete Muzzy titanium race system for my ZX7R as it came up at a fraction of the price of a new one. Its a work of art. Can't speak highly enough of Wolf racing for sourcing some header plates from Muzzy for me - very fast+efficient and I didn't even buy the system from them. I'm close to starting the bike and will let you know of the outcome. Wolf racing also organised a factory pro jet kit to suit the system and an ignition advancer is on the way. I'm fitting the jet kit myself but am interested in having it dyno'd after anyway.
Neilp I'll PM you about Lae racing rather then hijack the thread.
Paul.
