Speakin of which Smitty, how much oil would you have put into each fork leg? i've been pondering doing my front forks for a long time & have been procrastinating quite well thus far.

I also need to see just how leaky my front forks are, i know theres at least a minor leak. . .

Mike
approx 350mml in total
but you do the change and add oil..not in volume but in height
huh?

when the old stuff is drained, you compress the forks and add oil
so the air gap (oil to top of fork) is
LEFT 120mm
RIGHT 150mm

make sense???

oh
and fix the seal when you do the change....

cheers

Yeah i was thinking the seals should be done.

Given the level of it being a pain in the arse the last time i did it, i'll appily pay the three hundred for some other shmuck to do it. it's worth my sanity to do so. (already done it the once on my last bike, that was enough!)

I would have said 20 000km but i will be changing some fork springs next week and the oil is only 7500km old and i will probably change it, but from previous experiance when i did the oil in my 250s forks it came out looking like diff oil that had done 350000km ...decidedly very second hand.

If your just doing damping rod forks every 10000km would be plenty and its only 20 bucks worth of oil your changing.
