ZRX1200r Jet Kit Recommendation

I am planning to put a jet kit on my 2004 ZRX1200r. The bikes currently got a Yoshi slip on and Pod filters. Bought the bike like this, so not sure if its been jetted. But I could definitely do with some more ponies :) I am contemplating an Ivans Pod kit or a Dynojet Stage3. Any recommendations? Cheers

You should put a full system on it to get the most from the pods.

I've got a full muzzy, std air box and filter and Factory Pro stage 1 kit.

Check the factory pro site, it gives you a heap of options and dyno graphs to compare. Dynojet probably does the same.

Cheers and good luck, it's fun experimenting.

I have a Factory Pro in one ZRX and a jetkit of some sort that was in the other when i bought it. Good thing about Factory Pro is you can get phone assistance if you are willing to ring the USA. I spoke to Marc Salvisburg the other day about my GPZ900R kit. Very interesting bloke to chat with. :)

I have an Ivan's pod kit in mine with a full Akra system and pods. As Glen said, you'll want the full system as the stock headers are very restrictive; they look big, but they are double walled and the inside diametre is small. With the stock headers you will run way rich with any stage 3 kit.

The Ivan's kit is good, but you will need to dial it in on the dyno as it can be a tad rich in spots with some exhausts. I have no idea about the stage 3 dynojet kit on the ZRX, so can't help you there.

Thanks for the reply guys. I was thinking the same. That a stage 3 might run a bit rich. I am getting the bike dynoed this Friday. The guy told me that he can check how lean the bike is running and then suggest some jets. On the dynojet website it says that stage 3 is suitable for a slip on plus pod filters. Lets see how the dyno run goes. Any suggestions for headers? On a budget at the moment. How are blackwidow exhausts. They got headers for around $600. cheers

Took the bike to the dyno today. It pumped out 114 HP. But the guy told me it's running rich. I was expecting it to run lean as it's got pods. Not sure what to do next. Is that close to stock power? Or maybe it's already jetted and needs some headers? Any suggestions?

It would be rich because those stock headers will be restricting flow, even with the pod filters. All dynos read different, so it's impossible to say whether it's close to stock power or not. Maybe have a look around for second hand exhaust systems (I sold a practically new Kerker for under $1000 a couple of years ago), you will get a better bang for your buck that way.

Full Akra on mine (1200S), with a K&N filter (no pods), and Dynojet stage 1. Runs like the clappers.

The OEM headers, in addition to being double walled, have a restrictor inside, where the 4 go in to 1, thus restricting flow even more.

If you want to keep your Yoshi, the Black Widows are a good option.

I may be selling my full Akra, however.

I'm running a Kerker Meg system with a 2" baffle.
Ivan's jet kit + Ivan's recommended air box mod.
All pollution crap has been removed.
Runs like a demon possessed... :kuda:

I'm thinking I might buy a set of black widows and go the Ivan's Pod kit. How much are you expecting for the akras?

$750 sounds good to me.
Clean, straight, no dings.

I'm travelling for the next 10 days. Will confirm when I get back. I will be in Perth from 13-17 March. Might actually work out. Can you send me a pic?
