Heated Grips..........

Postby Glen » Mon Jul 07, 2014 8:49 am

Are the shit...........

Given my steadily increasing years and lower tolerance levels for cold temperatures I went out and got myself a set of Oxford heated grips.

A piece of piss to put on and they look quite snazzy. As part of the process I also ditched my bar-end mirrors and went back to conventional mirrors (jazzy looking Tarmac ones from MCA). My love affair with Bar ends is over ( the visibility out of the new jobbys is much better)

Went for a ride yesterday morning (left home at 7.00am) and the heated grips are friggin' awesome. They've got a variable temperature control so you can clip them up to 100% or anywhere down to 30% then off. They've got an auto turn off feature if you forget to turn them off as well.

All I need now is some heated boots :)

Sounds good!

I've noticed there's heated jackets for tradies now. Milwakee make them. You clip in your 18v battery and hours of toasty warmth apparently. This must exist for bikes already?

If you told me you had heated grips 3 months ago....I would have laughed out loud at you.

After a recent trip to Tassie with them fitted, I'm a convert. ;)

Are both bars the same heat? Left one is often cooler due to heatsinking of direct mounting to bar itself.

Correcto, the left doesn't seem to heat up as quick as the right but it's not too much different

Bugger. I thought it might have just been my el cheapo ones I had years ago. I did slip a layer of icecream container plastic between bar and grips last time which helped a bit too. (had two sets so far. Got a set for my zrx 5 years ago. Haven't fitted yet.

Those chilly winter morning in Toowoomba must be a challenge. I was up there a couple of weeks ago and our shed out at Charlton was freezing. You need to go and stand next to an extruder for a couple of minutes to warm up.
