z800 replacing exhaust

Postby lifeofcrimeguy » Sat Jun 07, 2014 7:49 pm

Heya, so got myself a two brother pipe http://www.twobros.com/cgi-bin/shopper?preadd=action&key=005-3560406V-B as you do for my z800. Start taking things apart and see some extra crap im not used to seeing (given my other bike still has carbs). I'm assuming the bit that looks a little like a spark plug coming out of the where the four headers meet is just the air sensor and that I can leave that alone, and that thing with metal cables coming from it is a valve servo that I need to do something about? What would that something be? All TBR sent me is an S-pipe, an end-can and mounting hardware. Apparently this comes under the heading of 'comes with all necessary hardware'? Nothing about a block plate or jumper wire.

The cables will move the exhaust valve. When you stick your can on you'll need to fool your ECU into thinking the valve is still working. You used to just pull them off and whack a servo buddy on which made it seem like the cables were still connected. Not sure what these new fangled thing's do.

I've gone back to carbies and jets.... makes life much simpler

Leave the servo connected & on the bike & disconnect the cables, & take the mufflers off with cables still attached,& you wont upset the ECU.
Because the servo is still there & connected, the ECU doesnt know anything has changed... ;)
