30,000km to high

Postby Cshat » Wed Apr 23, 2014 7:14 pm

Just want to know what you all think about a bike with 30,000km on it, that's how many I've done from new in 4-1/2 years, people I talk to are shocked I have that many on it, it's a 2010 Z750, I like my bike,it's fast, comfortable, cheap to run and reliable, I personally think 30,000km is medium low for a bike,
I love all bikes, but the naked ones get me going

30000km is a baby as long as the oil has been changed, I'm expecting over 200000km outta my ZRX before needing engine work.
2 X ZRX1200R 4 X ER6N, GT550, 1988 ZX-10, 4 X GPZ250R, 4 X GPZ900R and GPZ750R :) Yeah I like Kawasakis.

I did 70,000km in 12 months on a 1995 ZZR600 I bought new at the end of 1996 - commuting between Nowra and Wollongong plus lots of weekend trips. It was going strong until it (and I) got wiped out in a SMIDSY, when it was written off. Insurance got me a new 1998 ZX6R, which I did another 30,000km on in 5 months before the first kid arrived and I got a new job much closer to home - I went from a near 200km round trip to a 2 block walk, so I sadly had to sell the bike, as I needed a ute for work. I did enjoy, on the days I finished work early, the long way home, which was up Macquarie Pass and down through Kangaroo Valley

I had 45,000 miles (75,000km) on an 05 CBR600F in 2009!
Ran like a dream!
So long as its been well maintained and not abused you shouldn't have any issues for a while yet!

About to get to 30,000km on my 2012 Street Triple. Had over 55,000km on my ER6 before a SMIDSY sent it to god.

30 thousand kays is fuck-all - as long as oil/filter changes are regular and good-quality oil is being used.

If it had 2030000 I'd be having a good look, but 30000 is nothing...

I just had a major service on my 2007 ZX10 - 40,000km. Not only does the bike still feel like new to ride, but the valve shims were still in tolerance. Yep, 40,000km an not ever needed the valve clearances adjusted.

Mal has a ZX9 with over 160,000km which he punts round the track, my old CBR600 had over 70,000km and pulled hard at the track...

So 30,000km is just getting started.

Use semi synthetic oil like Motul 5100, change it every 6,000km, swap ya filters, fluids and plugs every 12,000km and it'll run reliable for a very long time.

07 ZX10R since new, tracky TBA, KX450F, 87 CR250 restoration, GT MTB - I've got serious thrill issues, dude

Yeah I keep the service up to date every 6000km, although I hardly ride it much now as I have a kid to look after, the last 12 months I have done 3000km,, the people who say its high I think are weekend riders and only ride to the coffee shop, I don't really care what people think I just wanted to know what is classed as high mileage, at the end of the day I bought the bike to be ridden,

I'd have no hesitation buying a road bike with 30,000k on it if the price and condition was right. Hell, my 6 has 30,000k, been written off and binned 3 times, thrashed like crazy at the track and held at high revs touring with 1 tooth dropped at the front. Regular oil and filter changes with good oil should HOPEFULLY keep it going for many more K's No point trying to sell it on here after that post  :D
