OIL ?

I'm Replacing the clutch friction plates & springs for new standard ones & wondering if the Valvoline Engine Armour Semi Synthetic 10 40 is or was the problem with the clutch slip.
She only slipped under heavy load, thats with my 107kgs at 10 to 11k rpm & once when I upped it in traffic avoiding an old idiot.
The springs were at the min limit & the plates were pretty worn down but still acceptable. I remember using the Castrol friction modified oil once in a trail bike, CR 125, & it slipped like a greased pig but that was about 30 yrs ago.
The bike is a 94 ZXR 750 recently restored & ironing out all the bugs like this.
Any advice is appreciated, Regards

ditch that oil and start using Motul 5100.

Problem goes away :kuda:

oh - replace the friction plates as well, and fit new clutch springs. You can get this in kit form from heaps of US ebay sites.

friction mod oil does not work well with wet clutches no matter how good a condition they are in the teflon adds are designed to restrict friction it prevents the plates from getting a good grip dump the oil and filter and start again with motul also do a couple of close k oil changes with filters to get rid of the residual shit and things will be much better this is something i have learned from experience many years ago :kuda:
