Hey guys need some advice for swing arm pivot bolt removal. I have taken the nut of the end and loosened the castle nut the bolt should be quite easy to take out? As torque is only 20 Nm. But mine is so tight when I tried with a 1/2 ratchet it wouldn't budge got the breaker bar on it and the raised section on the frame to hold the nut has started to crack and nut still hasn't freed. Has anyone made a big square but thin spanner to slide in between frame and swing arm to hold the nut? I'm guessing that's my next move to try to make something out of 2-3 mm strap welded like a F with I think a 39mm gap. I'm assuming years of road grime have got in and caused some corrosion in the nut
So been soaking in wd40 ect. Any advice would be appreciated.

Penatrine works much better than WD40. Keep applying it for a day or two and attack it with a rattle gun. Once it starts to turn, keep it going because the heat you generate can cause the thread to bind again if you stop. As for holding the nut, I have never pulled a 9 apart so have no idea.

Well after a week of soaking in penetrine twice a day and using an impact gun coudnt free my swing arm pivot bolt, dropped it by a local bike shop who tried just in case but he had no luck either so had to cut the bolt out. Good news is frame swing arm and wheels can now go for sandblasting powder coating. Bad news is im chasing a C2 swing arm pivot bolt or facing buying one from the wreckers.....Anyone got one lying around need the square nut/bush for it too.

Got myself a new swingarm pivot bolt and bearings ordered through the dealer so getting ready to progress a bit more. Frame swingarm and rims back from GB powder coating in Thomastown Vic did a great job for a good price at $60 with satin black on frame and swing arm gloss black for the rims guy who runs the shop was really friendly and helpful. Bead blasting ended up being the expensive bit as I did the swing arm at a mates place but frame and wheels had to go to a shop which was $150 but they did a great job not a spec of paint left.
Going to put the front end together and get frame back on engine. Swing arm will have to wait for spars to come in.

For powdercoat I was pretty impressed came up really good back wheel & swing arm is mint I found 2 small pin size holes in the frame coat unfortunately on the top where the frame is wider than the tank front rim has a little bit of roughness but once disks front guard etc will never be noticed. Put the wheel bearings back in disks on last night might head out assemble the head stem tonight.

Back from holidays and out playing with the 9 in the shed. Got my swing arm bearings sorted and she's coming back together nicely. Thought I'd throw up a pic of progress. Aiming to have her ready for a broadford practice day 21st Sep.

Nice work!
After seeing the corrosion on the ZXR I bought recently and the job on yours I'm leaning towards doing a similar job on my frame, subframe, swinger and wheels.

Looking good Paul, only a couple of hours work to go
You should be pulling wheelies on it by Sunday.

Got some good progress last night! Can't wait to get a wheelie out of the beast! Having a problem with my throttle fitted a zx10r tube for quicker action and with my cables at min adjustment the throttle returns with the cables straight but when on the bar it binds up and won't return. Either need to get a mm of stretch out of the cable or trim a bit of outer somewhere.

Got her nearly buttoned up and happy with how the 9 looks. Bloody cracked my new screen worse than the old one so will have to refit that now. Still need to refit chain bleed brakes and make up a new fairing stay and mount for gauge cluster as the one that came with it were horrible mild steel strap bent into shape oh and stopped fitting exhaust because a Akrapovic system of an E1 came up and hoping to fit that instead
