Took the 9 out to a mates place who is a sign writer and going to wack some stickers/numbers on her. Took her for a quick squirt and all appears well so ordered a set of Pirelli track day tyres and should be at broadford on the 21st.

Thanks guys! What lap times can you do around broadford on the zx9r? I'm hoping for consistent 110's and if I can get comfortable a 105? Will be riding with friends who can do sub 1 mins but consistent 103 or 102 on a 01 r1 and 08 blade. Either way just looking to have some fun and get comfortable on the 9. Last trip to broadford was on my nc23 400 on street rubber getting around 115's. not sure on my bike fitness for hanging onto the 9 for full sessions at pace......

Should be pretty easy to do 110s and certainly 105s can be obtained on a zx9 with a clear track and good set up. :D
My advise is dont worry about times,if you havent spent a lot of time at broadford or on your bike it can very well bite you in the ass.Just have fun.

Well the 9 had a successful first run at Broadford :kuda: straight up the 9 was blisteringly fast abd handling like a pig. maxed out rebound on the firks and got better.first session managed a 1:11.6 but ended early with a near high side on the LHander also found my head stem came loose. Tightened it up and then found clutch started slipping down the straights when revs above 9500. After lunch clutch settled down and managed an 1:11.16 but clutch slipping again in last sesh. Got some onboard video and can see need to work on entry speed and tipping it in. Got some corners right but rarely on the same lap....... Looking forward to getting back out there!

Been out for a second run at broadford bike ran great and I'm getting comfortable on the beast and the speed again. Had the clutch slipping still above 10,000 rpm :( so ran the straights at half throttle and concentrated on tipping in and keeping up entry speed and dropped 2 secs from last run to a 1:09.37. :kuda: Ordered EBC race/street Kevlar clutch kit arriving next week

Now trying to iron out afew things I'm not happy with. My seat is loose! Has a home made bracket at front on the tank and only sits on the plastic lugs on seat base onto holes in rear frame. I must be missing something that hold the back of seat. Anyone with a nine happy to pop off there seat and show me a picture of what's missing? Or better anyone wrecked one and have these bits in a box in the shed?

Also going to make some better upper fairing stays and cluster mount, anyone got any ideas?

Good work mate, 1.09 is a good time second run out. You'll be doing 5s in no time.

Are you going to bring her down to the island some time?

Got new Kevlar EBC clutch plates in the 9 and a set of heavy duty springs with washers underneath which has solved all my slipping woes. Just took the 9 for a run at Winton test & tune day was great fun always enjoyed winton in a car ans was still a good challenge on the bike. The surface leaves a lot to be desired but looked more intimidating than it was only ever got a slide on one corner. The surface has large cracks pushed up ash alf almost berms and slick looking patches covered in layers of rubber from drifters. Still managed at 1:46 but was coasting through some corners that seemed a bit dodge as I booked a Phillip island ride day for 24th march and cant afford to bin it before that!

Got some cool videos from my drift ghost camera if I can edit them I'll post em up.

Wacked some1.2kg/mm racetech springs in the forks of the nine and got a radial master cylinder of a 04 gsxr fitted up. Also popped a dynojet kit through the carbs. Had a hell of a time trying to bleed the brakes but got there in the end. Hitting Phillip Island next Monday can't wait to test out the improvements :kuda:

Just thought I would update this thread winter 2014 I rebuilt the front calipers and now she really pulls up well. Also got some spare rims. Budget go a bit tight this summ because of some house renovations but snuck out to broadford for an arvo got two sessions on and managed a 1:03 which had me stoked! Here's a couple more pics of the 9
