ok guys heres the deal....bought the bucket and it has a mikuni carb on it, possibly off a RG250...now its on a cb125/150 (woteva its bored to)... now i changed the plug & oil etc the other day, put a new plug in and rode it for a few min, plug out & its a thick black charcoal looking tip..not good, too rich according to sources...so we strip down the carb, seems no1 over here will touch a 4 stroke carby bike..i dunno whether to just put a smaller jet in it (was told by carb guy if i just change main jet it will b worse), also cant seem to get the needle out to adjust...
ne 1 have ne suggestions of how i can solve the problem (cheap i hope)..i just want to b able to ride it...well, "race" it...
mikuni flat slide (i think)
cb125-150?
dirty plug (new plug)
suggestions??
oh..the carbs got a 165 jet in it if it helps...

Is it black when you just ride it soft, or if your running it as if your racing it???
Is it blowing smoke?? ie. burning oil or rich...
And have you run it long enough to determine if the rings are rootard..

Ian Williams Tuning (
http://www.iwt.com.au/) are Mikuni dealers and service agents. Give him a call. He'll probably tell you that the needle needs to be canged.

I asume you cleaned out all the orifices in the carby neka befor putting it back on and the filter if it has one is clean.
Silly question i know and is it blowing fuel out the back as well?
You say little smoke and being a bucket if it has a filter maybe no filter will lean it out a bit just put a stocking over the top of the carby to strain out the rocks and bugs.

Why have you got a cb150 anyway, it's not for bucket racing is it?

If Ian isn't happy to help then do as someone else said and contact Show and Go. They are also Mikuni dealers.

Could it be:
- the float?
- needle and seat?
- slide put in wrong way around? (open end should face intake)
- blocked air circuit?
Some of those things are actually fixed jet, too. You'd probably do better starting with a carb from a CT125 or the 175 ag bike. Don't know why anyone would want a 2 stroke 250 carb for a 150 ish 4 stroke motor. The 250 2 stroke motor would have a higher cfm requirement than a 4 stroke SMALLER motor. I'm surprised it runs.
