To cut a long story short after cleaning my bike today I opened the fuel cap and to my demise the drain hole had blocked and some water went trickling into my fuel...

It was maybe 20 or 30ml I would guesstimate!

Is there anything I should do? Will a relatively small amount of water do harm in there?

The drain hose had a kink in it on further inspection which mind you is not the first time either. I might have to replace it with something more rigid.

What would you do? Leave it? Drain the tank? Put some sort of additive in?

Isn't there some additive that gets rid of water from fuel?
water sinks to the bottom so it will be the 1st thing to get sucked out anyway, bike might splutter a bit if it isn't much in there but that's about it.

ether is usually used to remove ater from fuel

a common compounds that contain ether is e10 fuel; ether is also known as ethanol

Doesnt a little metho added help or is that when tank is empty to remove moisture ?

Haha lots of ideas I'll check out what the auto store has, they can sell me ethanol at $10 bucks a can hahaha by the time I get there all the water will probably be gone anyway haha

A cap full of metho will absorb some moisture.

I had water in my fuel in the GS, it came out when drained the bowls. Would splutter at WOT when leaned go figure. Tried adding fuel treatment stuff as advised by bike shop didn't go away so a good draining of the tank and all was good.

Half cupof metho for 3 or 4 tank fulls...tanks full??...should do the trick.
Water certainly does sink to the bottom,but ti depends on the bottom contouring of the tank as to it being sucked out 1st.Some fuel outlets
actually sit above the bottom most part of the tank,so the water will just sit there...and sit there...and sit there.

only 20ml I wouldn't be too fussed mate, but as others have rightly said - drop in 1/2 a cup of metho, it will absorb any water in your fuel.

If it was 100ml or more of water - I would drain the tank and use the fuel in the mower done that a few times.

Sounds good fellas will drop a little metho in tonight just to be on the safe side

Ether=CH3OC2H5
Methanol=CH3CH2OH
The same elements in a different atomic structure. Water=H2O Hydrogen peroxide H2O2.
Same elements but I would not try to drink hydrogen peroxide. They do however taste similar until the H2O2 starts to kill your cells.

Ethers and alcohols have very different reactive properties.

For one thing, ethers aren't soluble in water..... so don't put it in your fuel tank!
