this bloke is just trying to sell the oil he stocks!
plus he is talking to americans (!) who drag race by my reading (i mean who else is putting nitrous on a zx14?)
the lack of science in the above is brain numbing. where are his facts? where is the research. it sounds very much like 'the mate of a mate saw' or i heard some bloke at the pub reckons'. by the same reasoning my bike has 300 hp, and will get beaten in a drag by a standard s15 sylvia; because a bloke at the pub said so!

lets deal with reality and verifiable facts

opinions are like arseholes, everyone has one and most of them stink!

This bloke is a world record holder DICK ,as for the talk in the pub i think you have been there way to many times?as we are 20 years behind the US you must know everything,PS i have this oil (sent from the US) and have no problems PS allways great to see a know it all from the 70's

Every one has there opinions on oils, all i can say is my no 1 zx9, 193,000 ks now retired but motor is still good.Second zx9 75000 ks still good and headingto the track .Third zx9 that i own not sure what billy ran in it but it will be useing 5100 when she gets on the road.I dont believe that its just the oil that has got my bikes so far without any engine work done on them at all. (excerpy 1 set of clutch plates and 3 fuel pumps)The consistant changing of the coolant every 12,000 ks im sure also plays a part in keeping an engine running for a long time.
Besides its a nine

it is capable of getting 50000 kms on a bike that has been riden very hard,if you have done nothing but pussy it you will get 190000+ but i guess EACH to there own ;)PS the 9's dont have any HP to hurt anything :lol:specally the 95 model!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you saying none of our bikes should make it past 50,000km? Phil had 130,000km on his 9 when it was taken out and has over 80,000 on his ZRX. :? Interesting that you think he does nothing but pussy his bikes. You need to spend some time on the CDT and experience how he pussies them first hand.

forensic engine disassembly?
lubricant analysis and testing?
examining lubricant flow under xenon flash lighting and uv dye?
the differing flow idiosyncrasies of different oil pump types
bearing clearancing based on oil operating temperature? (and ever herd of cold seize?)
effects of different filtration systems on lubrication performance?

ever head of these things? or even considered them, when building engines?

no, didnt think so.

i do not want to start a flame war, but when people spout sh1t on a topic i know a fair bit about i will respond the first time in a way to help put some facts and reality into the debate. after that it entirely depends on the response i get. how do i know what i'm talking about? i spent 10 years successfully preparing speedway engines, chased power in many different ways. had a rash of junked mega (hundred thousand) dollar engines through lubrication issues. eventually traced back to bearing/oil viscosity mismatch causing lubrication starvation under power during mid corner.
i based all my investigations on british, japanese, german and american research. scientific, peer reviewed research by blokes such as mike costin and keith duckworth ( ever heard of a mob called cosworth?) and their contemporaries, and major engine manufacturers (like caterpillar, trdusa, tmg, nismo and nissan japan) and lubrication manufacturers; but of course some yank who flogs oil and drag races with a website knows more.

heed your own advice,

looks like Mr Faber may know quite a bit more about oils that you may have first thought. Although getting your oil in the post from the US does bestow you with some credibility for oil knowledge I guess ;) its not something that most of us would bother with ?

For my part, Motul 5100 is a perfectly good semi-synthetic oil for almost every road-going 4-cyl jap motor built since the late 80's. I only use mineral oil in the old zeddies, but 50,000km as a benchmark for engine longevity ? Hardly. The motor in the Pearl has done over 1/2 million k's on good old mineral oil without issue. You don't crank up any mileage doing burnouts unfortunately.... :kuda:

Oil threads rank right up there with fuel threads and tyre pressure threads for pure awesome

yes you may be write in that little bit,but you seem to miss the main point, viscosity come down to POWER witch the 9 lacks  PS cant wait to go for a blat on roads we both know ;)
