Twin Headlight Conversion

Gday All, this question proberly has already been asked but has any body worked out how to convert the 2011 Ninja1000 to twin head light setup, i keep getting told it cant be done....

Problem being that you will be high beaming every man and his dog coming the other way. Or the ones you are following.

i got told that a twin element globe (hi and lo beam) might be the answer !!!

Before adding lights check your alternator output amps. It should be in the owners manual. A 50 watt bulb draws a little over 4 amps, on high beam it may double, so 2 high beams would be 16 amps plus. If your alternator only puts out 24 amps you might be putting a strain on it as you have other electrical components using power. The formula is P=EI P being watts, E being voltage and I being current in amps. So if you have a 50 watt bulb you know you have 12 volts it comes out to be a little over 4 amps. (I = P/E). Jim Beam.

well whoever is telling you that is talking out of their arse.

Electrics are simple and you can wire up the headlights on your Ninja however you want. Go and talk to a good auto-sparkie - someone who is familiar with bikes - and make sure you take a copy of the wiring diagram with you.

It should be as simple as fitting up some new globes, then wiring these into the harness properly.

Not that simple - the high beam side reflector is designed for hb only. So putting a hi-lo beam globe ( i.e. a H4 60/55w ) in there, will throw light higher than the low beam side ... you will need to adjust the high beam side down to compensate.
