So I was pushing the 10r around and noticed it wasn't free wheeling as well as I would t want. So I am thinking of changing the bearings across both bikes and wheel sets.

The question is has anyone tried ceramic bearings. Worth the extra dosh? Notice any difference?

Any recommendations for standard style bearings?

Try repacking the original ones with fresh high temp grease if they are not that old

they are probably sealed bearings ? Even the replacement bearings I bunged in the mag wheels off Cherry a couple of weekends ago were sealed......

bearings cost f/all replace them. pull em and take them to a bearing outlet. No biggie.

Yep sealed and happy to pay that's not my issue. I just want to know the options on which bearing style.

The 10r will get a bit more tlc before the next track day in attempt to gel with it a bit more. The thing was a handle full on Saturday. Even managed to dislodge the steering damper mount from all the bucking and power wheelies.

Same as whats in it, i.e single ball race single or dbl sealed...... like i said supply sample to bearing outlet and ask for a dbl sealed. (regardless)
If its rooted, measure the outside diameter and the shaft diameter and the width and let them know the intended application.

The numbers actually mean something on the shell, most if not all oem bearings are common and easily sourced at the bearing supplier.

If you are out for the most out of your bike and want to spend the money you can't go past ceramic wheel bearings,here is a great example

Having been in the bearing industry for 5 years (no longer though), I can tell you your options

full contact sealed or non contact - in NSK this will be DD for full contact or VV for non contact. either wilol be fine.
Single sealed simply means a seal in one side but not the other, this is not common and in the instance where a single seal is preferred (usually a gearbox), often a seal is simply taken out.

The number of the seal will be written on the seal and usually the inner ring, the inner ring is the one to beleive if there is a discrepancy. Probably a 6904-2RS or something similar (2RS = 2 Rubber Sealed). Sometimes they will be ZZ which is shielded - metal shields).

Don't touch chinese brgs regardless of how much you are saving!

Also I have 40,000 on my bike and only one bearings needed changing but did it for peace of mind.

Tsubaki have a huge range of bearings... used to deal with them when getting bearings for my old work... maybe they can help u?

It may not be the bearings. Take off the wheels and turn the race by hand. If it is smooooth with no catchy spots it's ok. If you feel any catchy spots it's definitely bad. As said before don't go with any Chinese B.S. as they haven't figured out how to make metals pure yet. I would go with the Kawasaki bearings, then you know what you have. Cheers.

Can't remember who or where but I did ask the same question once and was told not to use ceramic for racing 'cause if they fail, they seize instantly (something about lubrication, I think) and the consequences... well, you know.

Not sure how much merit that answer had either...
