zx14 suspension upgrade

Postby sillywilly » Sat Oct 22, 2011 7:40 pm

How are you all going? I need some information on my07 ZX14 suspension. I am thinking about upgrading and wondering what people think is the best way to go. I was thinking about basic suspension revalve and respring according to my weight. I have had this done on previous bikes but unsure if this is the way to go or should I go after market rear, if so Ohlins or penske. .I am experienced rider mainly fairly fast road acasional track .If people could ge back to me on what they think would be most benificail and who they used I would appreciate it.
Thanks for your time

zx14 suspension upgrade

Where u based?

A revalve / spring would be the most cost effective and personalized. The stock shocks go alright once they are fiddled with by an expert.

Aftermarket gear is good but costly and may not be any noticeable difference for road riding. Once you do get you aftermarket gear you will need to get it reworked as well anyways.

One of the locals here with a late model 14 - I think it is an 08 ? has just had his stock suspension done up by our local suspension guru - Laurie Smith at SuspensionSmith. I followed this bastard on Friday arvo on a short strop through the hills.........and have never seen his 14 dissapear like it did on Friday !!

Laurie is really switched on with suspension upgrades and mods, and I can *guarantee* you, that he will be able to sort out your stock suspension so it works 110% better than it currently does.

Its only a few hours up the road - if you booked it in you could do an overnighter here and your bike will feel like a new bike when you pick it up.

I have a totaly different moto, but I had the suspension done with racetech components and it made all the difference. My Z1000 does not have any compression damping adjustments but the new valves are set to my weight, (200 lbs.) plus the heavier springs made the stabilty in corners much better. It used to stand up if I hit any kind bump in mid corner, but is now pretty stable for a Z1000. Cheers!
