Front Brakes

Postby ducati_paul » Wed Oct 05, 2011 8:23 am

Hi all
My front brakes are Crap! they always have been really but I particulalry noticed it after the track day a couple of weekends ago in the wet when I wanted a nice delicate touch on the front brakes but it was more operating like an on/off switch, I think the previous crash didn't help matters!
Anyway, as with most bits on my bike I have no idea what they actually came off, once I decided I should have a spare lever for the bike so went and bought a ZZR600 lever and guess what ... she no fit! :x
What I am wondering is would it matter what lever/master cylinder I put on the bike? I see on Ebay someone (in the States) is selling a 2005 ZX6 lever and master cylinder, as an example could I use that? is it just a matter of me disconnecting my Brake line from the master cylinder then bolting on the new one and reconnecting the line? so for that matter could I use a R6 or a CBR600 lever/cylinder? or should I be sticking with something of the same era as my bike? Oh by the way I'm not racing again so aren't concerned about eligibility for PCRA racing :)
TIA for any help

2005 ZX6 is a radial MC & should work just fine, Oh & the chances of any scrute picking up in the MC is pretty remote.
If you are going to the trouble then go radial for sure.

Hi paul
What bike is it?
I have a brand new radial M/C off a zx1400, i bought some time ago to fit to a 03 Z1000, but sold the bike, so its sitting in the shed. its the same as my 07zx10, but different resivoir, and i dont need a spare, if i bin it, its going to be a big one so it going to need more than a new M/C!!!!

I'm after it for a 1994 ZZR600 but as I said I'm looking for anything that would do the job, how much are you after for it?

HI paul
Mate i will take $150 for it, as i said it is brand new, never fitted, never had fluid thru it, it comes with lever as well.
Now not sure if u kno this, but radial M/C have different mounting points, so original lines may not fit?
different mounting angles, take me to long to write, so if u intrested ring me anytime 0411 273 798 and can have a chat to u about it, dont wont to sell anything to anyone that there not happy with.

Cheers davo
