How to change a cam chain on a zxr250c? anybody?

Postby X7ACY » Sat Oct 01, 2011 4:18 pm

Hello peoples,

I have just bought my self a new tensioner and chain for an 89 zxr250c and i have done a timing chain install before on a car... so i can be pretty hands on with engines.

Ive removed the case and have only gotten that far. im not sure what would be TOP DEAD CENTRE on the markings on the side of the plate which is T1,4 or T2,3 and i dont know what "F" is.

I am assuming that "T1,4" is TOP DEAD CENTRE, which i have lined up on the pointer. i have a manual but it doesnt say anything about timing, or the chain removal.

I am also assuming that i have to remove the rocker cover and have a bit of a sticky beak on how to remove the chain from that side.. i hope i wont have to remove the engine because that would be plain silly to replace just a chain.

Does anybody know clear step by step on how to replace the timing chain and tensioner?

Please get back to me and im willing to learn. Thank you.
