Which sprockets?

Hey all I am wanting to change the gearing on my zx6 to give me more power down low cause it seems to lag a bit till I hit a higher rpm. I am unsure of how many teeth I should go up and down on the front and rear to give me this. Also I've been told that an alloy sprocket will wear a lot quicker than a normal steel sprocket, is this true? Also how would I go about having my speedo calibrated once I have changed my gearing?
Any help would be appreciated

Go down one tooth on the front sprocket.

If you're a road rider, I'd say -1 on the front sprocket is PLENTY! Others will agree/disagree and no one is wrong 'cause it's all down to personal preference.
Alloy sprockets will wear out faster and again, if you're a road rider, I'd stick to the steel ones for longevity.
To calibrate your speedo you need to buy a speedo healer. Plenty of those on web and easy to install!

Yep one down on the front gives it a nice pickup off the lights. That's what I'm running now and it's pretty good except you will find yourself shifting a lot more in traffic.
As for the speedo, I calibrated it with a gps and found it was 10% under, so when the speed limit is 60,i do 66. Confirmed it with a front facing speed camera, it didn't take a happy snap when I went past

Thanks guys. So -1 on the front and just stick with stock on the rear? And I'd prob invest in a speedo healer be a hell of a lot easier.

I've got -1 front and like it (16 standard I think so 15 tooth). Driven brand.
If you go more than -1 front you'll find it revving very high on highway cruising speeds.

Ok sounds good. I just want it so that I have that extra bit of go down low. Also am I able to get steel sprockets in a different colour can only find alloy ones and as my bike is mainly street ridden I would rather it last me a while

Why buy a coloured front - you wont be able to see it?

Sorry should of specified, I meant a coloured rear steel sprocket. I figure if I'm gona throw a new front sprocket on I'll also change the rear and the chain as well.
