Hey guys, need some advice from the fellow brake guru's here..
Today i fitted new EBC HH Sintered pads on the front of my gen 3.. I then took it for a ride to get them all bedded in i noticed that there was a constant whine kind of sound coming from the brake area even when not applied.. I noticed the pads are rubbing along the disk a little more then previously, but that would be expected being brand new yeah?
I was running the stock pads before i fitted these sintereds and there was no noise like this that i could hear..
I know i have fitted everything properly, as far as i can see.. Could this be a normal sound for these kinds of pads to be making from just rubbing along the disk?
Any advice would be apprieciated

the HH/ sintered pads do that they are very hard but very good in hot condihions(hard braking) but they do cause more where on the disc's

Piston seals?
If the pistons are not retracting after braking the pads will be rubbing causing the sound..... problem is sintered will do this unless you were supplied with shims that fit behind the pads to eliminate the noise caused by vibration.
Its not doing any harm to leave them like that BTW

You did transfer the shims from the old pads to the new ones didn't you?
The thin metal plates on the back of the pads

it doesnt mater(to much) if shimes are applied they will ALL WAYS be lowder than standed thats standed with pads with a lot of alloys in them.,.

Hmm i'm currently getting rear pads for mine loved the OEM Pads but not for $80.

Going off what your saying if i get a EBC HH or Galfer Sintered it's oing to drag and cause more rotor wear?

If so am i better off getting a organic pad for the rear thus stopping the increased noise and rotor wear from a Sintered Pad?

Braking power is not a issue on the rear, actually having less ability to lock the rear up would be nicer.

I think I'de rather a little less braking power then replacing the bloody rotors

The wear factor will be next to nothing, get your bike up on stands & spin the wheels.......... you will find they might both have pads in slight contact.
Disk wear can be measured in years....eg over 3 years you might notice some wear

they will be fine all im saying is they are designed for hard braking hense being a harder pad for less brake faid in hot condishions thats why there lowder.with the disc wear if your not hitting corners at emence speed all the time they will wear the disc very little but you will get a shit load of km's out of them(front discs) i don't no why they bother making them for the back?i guese you will never need to get another set.

I wouldnt think it would be the seals, the bike is not even 2 years old yet

Yeppers mr sieko, i did fit the shims that were supplied with the pads

From what ive been told, going a sintered rear is a no no, so i went with the organic

Anyways thanks for the replies, the noise doesnt seem to be as noticable now they are worn in a little more.. Id pretty much forgot about this thread, as it took nearly a month to get a reply

Ahh why did you have to say that *sigh* i was about to order some Sintered Rears.

So ultimate question is the rear Pad i have at the moment is 36,000kms old it has totally run out, but the rear rotor is like new no grooves at all.

IS the OEM rear pad organic OR Sintered ???? (My guess is Organic)

Did you clean the shit off the pistons? Being old pads your pistons would have been out and you would of had to push them in.
If there's pad dust n stuff on the pistons they won't get pulled back slightly by the seals as easily.
