Does anyone know what pipe this is on my new bandit 1200? There's a plate on it of some type but it's been painted over.

Stock one cut down? Looks cheaply made and I don't really like the sound of it so far but haven't ridden the bike yet.

I bought my Ixil from Screaming Demon, was very happy with their service. Some of their other pipes look suspiciously like rebadged Ixil Xtrems (wouldn't be a bad thing by any means, just sayin').

A bit off-topic, but I asked both SD and Ixil about repacking, and both told me Ixils never need it - something about being packed with stainless. Can anyone confirm?

At first glance I though it was one of those supercheap Dan Dan things off eBay, but the badge and curved outlet say otherwise.

Mine is an ixil as well. Nice sound, baffle optional :kuda: Mines the carbon oval shorty though, don't know much about the others.

As for where they're made, I have no idea, I was just stirring the pot a little.

The best thing you can do to a 1200 Blandit is swap the airbox for pod filters & replace the entire exhaust system, the headers are very small diameter I.D. & weigh approx 4000 Kg, a mate just put a set of Yoshi copy 4-1 headers & a Muzzy link pipe & round section ally can (Muzzy stuff was off my old ZX7) & picked up 18 HP & 14 ft/lbs with el cheapo pods & rejetting - he had to embiggen the pilots, raise the needles all the way & go up about 5 sizes in mains, it's still a bit lean on the needles so he's gunna hafta get a Dynojet/Factory Pro kit. The most impressive bit is that the power & torque increases from 2500 to redline so you even get more bottom end & midrange into the bargain.
There is a lot of power & torque hiding in the standard airbox & exhaust on them things.
He reckons it's a totally different bike to ride now, wheelies off the throttle no worries.
The Bandit motor is seriously detuned from the factory so the sky's the limit, there's another 8 to 10 HP in a set of dialled GSXR 1100 cams, more again if you use 38mm Gixer carbs & another 10+ if you bump the compression up by 1.5 points.
Another mate got 140HP at the wheel from just a full system & a set of Mikuni RS 36 flatslides + K&N pods.
I've got a 1200 Bandit motor in a GS 1000 that I'm building that made 131 RWHP with a Wiseco 1216 kit, Hindle 4-1, pods & a rejet of the standard carbs, remember - stock RWHP is only around 100 - 105 so you get the picture.
Go nuts !
