Hello Gents, hope this is correct section, wondering who has tried these Metzeler M5 tyres and what you were riding on before? I am currently on Michelin Pure's and LOVE them,but my shop says Michelin importer is HOPELESS to deal with and cannot reliably supply thew Pures. Who likes the Metz M5??????

I've got M5's on my ZRX that are jst about ready to be replaced. 7500 on them now and that is about 2K more than I have ever got out of a rear tyre. Grip at both ends was good enough for me.

I have previously used M3's and rate the M5 as being a little better in all areas, grip, wet weather grip, longevity.

A friend of mine has th M5 on his blade, he does 1.40s around the creek on em & then rides home on them. He loves them..I think he said he got over 7000k from his first set including a couple od track days.

how many kilometers do you think you'd get out of a front M5?

i'm an M1 guy myself but have experimented with a Z6 on the rear for distance

i'd like to try an M5 front Z8 rear for a 9 to 12 thousand kilometer tour but i've got no experience with Interact longevity

how many kilometers do you think you'd get out of a front M5?

i'm an M1 guy myself but have experimented with a Z6 on the rear for distance

I usually dont get more than 5-5.5K out of a set of tyres, these will go to 8, maybee a little more. Depending on how hard you ride you should be able to stretch them out to that sort of distance. Part of that 8.5 that this set will do is 1 & 2/3 trips to the island, one of them the CDT

Yes Phil, the CDT will normally show up tyre deficiencies.............. :lol:

Or wear out soft compounds very quickly. The Q2's I fitted for the Supers CDT were half gone by the time I got back and it was a sedate ride this year as far as CDT's go. I will be going the M5's for my next tyre.

hard enough mate!...but it's only the longevity of the front M5 ridden hard i need to know....

pretty sure a rear Z8 will do me & if the ass end kicks out a little i'll deal with it....

but i like the front planted

surely the rear M5 is toasted before the front M5 on a Rex?

Nah not really, maybe a little, but not worth not changing both at the same time.

Yeah, I find the fronts only have a couple left in them when the rear is shagged. Oddly, the edges are always the first to go??

Well im waiting for my roadsmarts to wear out then i have a set of m5s sitting in the shed to go on :lol:
