Your paint is a 2 stage paint and therefore also requires a specific base paint, Candys for example, rely on a really shiny metallic base paint to provide the metallic content. Non-candys that require a base paint are very transparent and hence need the basepaint to create the depth of colour.
I suggest you visit a local paint sprayer or smash repair centre as you'll also need to factor in the weathering of the original fairings...
