ABS Chinese super special fairings - zx6

Postby Reedy » Mon Jul 19, 2010 4:33 pm

Just got some abs fairings from china for a zx6r. They seem to line up Somewhat OK but the mounting nuts on the front fairing (the one that surrounds the headlight assembly and ram air) are too damn small that are embedded in the plastic mounting point in the fairing.

The oem bolts removed from the original fairing's thread are too big and I can't screw the fairing on.... :x

Has anyone had this problem ?

The plastic is pretty damn flimsy compared to the kawa oem and im worried if i put a tap through the embedded nut in the plastic bad things could happen. *snap**trashed* or worse run out of metal to tap, the embedded nut doesn't look too thick...heh.

Any suggestions before I go weekend mechanic warrior, bunnings style ? :)

After realising i'm more retarded than I thought, I made my way to the local fasteners with the oem bolts and got them to match them up best they could.

Which turned out pretty good. :)

Probably a pile of Chinese shit. I have never bought anything from China that was worth a shit. Taiwan is a different story. Even Chinese whores are not worth the money at $2.00 a pop.

Sup budgenutz :)

Actually for 400 bucks not bad, ive thrown it on the floor twice and they held up surprisingly fantastic (bunnings spray paint/masking tape/plumbing cement). If you've got a while to install them and stuff around well worth it. BUT be careful if your tracky is newer with more than 4 fairing pieces otherwise it could suck. :)

Is she still your wife????? or hasn't realised you found the paypal details yet?

But getting back to topic; I'm sensing the thought goes along the line of 'they are fine as disposable track fairings, but you wouldn't want them as your normal ride fairings' ?
