Fuel Pump relay

Would a faulty fuel pump relay cause misfiring???

I've stripped the relay off the bike for testing and following the Haynes manual instruction i don't get any resistance across pins 2 -3 or 2-4

Obviously nobody has a clue to what you're talking about. I have a Z1000 so I cannot help you. But in answer to your question; yes a fuel pump relay will cause engine function to fail. Whether your continuity measurements are correct?? I have no idea. Have a JB with a brew and contemplate the meaning of the North end of a South bound skunk going West.

No It probably would not if on a carb model. However on an EFI model then yes it could. As on a carb model the float bowls are enough of a buffer for a pulse or two from the pump. So you would more likely expeirience much less definative effects than miss firing. So is it EFI or carb. In any case I would just replace the pump relay with a switch to test if it is causing a problem. The pump relay is pretty simple it is on on either two situations. one when the starter button is pressed and two when there are pulses from the ignition on the coil output of the CDI. cheers
