[SYD] Metal fabricator needed before Oxley

Postby Ali600+150 » Fri Apr 02, 2010 2:03 pm

I went and got myself a ventura rack for KWAK (09 Zed 7fiddy) so I've got luggage capacity for Oxley. Ive just gone to fit it and my suspisions prooved correct - I don't have the right mounts on the bike left after 'eliminating' the rear muddy.

Does anyone know a metal fabricator in Sydney (I think thats who I need?) to make me a small L bracket thinggy-ma-jig to screw into the undertail to hold the ventura cross-bar?

Anyone? Bueller? Anyone?

Its a small job and might take a bit of fiddling with the L-brackets to make sure its mounted inthe right spot so a 'bike friendly' person would be ideal.

If anyone knows anyone can they let me know 8) Fanks!

What will probably need to happen is KWAK will need to come to bankstown airport and then we can start working on the bracket and make sure it's a snug fit, if you can come by our work during the week we can sort you out in no time :D

Hey Ali, how did you and Brian go with the thinggy-ma-jig? :D

Gotta love the names of odd items without names. My favourite is Reconbobulator. Its one of those things that reconbobs broken things. Usually gets it going again.
I've actually got a 4 pound knockometer, which is used for fine adjustments to get things inline again.
My blue tongue spanner is my favourite tool when it comes to undoing all those seized bolts. (oxy accetalene set)

Got any other 'special' names for things??

Ha ha ha I like the "Reconbobulator" ...might just use that one ;)

The industry I work in has some funky names for "stuff"......we have one thinggy called an insufflator which one of the guys can't quite pronounce so he calls it the snuffleupagus

Well it turns out I am a total imbacile when it comes to reading instructions  as Disco was cluey enought to point out to me I dont need a bracket made up as the Ventura rack pack actually comes with spacers and extened bolts to take into account 'tailectomies'. Disco sent me a few photos and as it turns out I am going to be able to put it on without any major re-work. Going to do it tomorrow arvo.

So thanks anyways to P4nza for coming to my rescue even though he was trumped by Disco

When it comes to instructions I am most definately a bloke  :kuda:

Ahh pfft. But us blokes get along ok without instruction. Takes us a few wrong turns, mount the gutter and run a red light, but we get there in the end. And thats what counts the most :D
Glad to hear it wasnt anything to serious then.
If you need a hand, I dont live to far away (and i can bring beer) so dont be shy to put your hand up. (us blokes never put our hands up). I'll be in bike mode still. Got the Kat to crank, now i need to get it to fire up!!
