Jason mentioned a neck warmer many posts ago (neck warmer ey?), so I
thought I'd investigate, went to kwakka newcastle and they sell 'em for
11 bucks (rjays). Its like a balaclava, that has been chopped
horizontally halfway up. If you took some trakky daks and cut them above
the knee and below the knee, that's kinda the shape. Though different
material.
It covers basically the back of ya head, and from the mouth down (or
below the mouth if ya want).
I find it significantly improves how warm ya feel, cause it stops the
draft coming up between your chin and your helmet...no more cold burnt
face with burning eyes and frozen tears for me! (you sub zero riders'll
know what I mean...)
Nice tip Jase.
Ty - you should consider one mate, although you might get hell from the
missus if you ditch the scarf...

It does a little but not much. It deflects from the hands enough that in
the summer I can't get much air flow by leaving my jacket wrists undone
(which I did on the GPX to keep cool), but not enough that my hands
don't get cold. So I guess it doesn't deflect from the hands but does
from the wrists if that makes sense.
Hands and neck/chin are about the only bits that get particularly cold.
But then again - I only have summer gloves
Generally I just wear my draggin jeans and rjays jacket with liner. The
missus has just knitted me a scarf for neck/chin, but I haven't used it
yet. I'll probably get some winter gloves some time in the near future,
but I've lived with just the summer ones for 2 years now - a bit longer
won't hurt.
