Tires for 250R

Postby woo9 » Fri Jan 15, 2010 4:10 pm

Hi guys

I just had a 09 kawasaki 250R and doesnt like the factory tires setup.
I am considering to put 120 70 17 for front and 150 60 17 for rear.
anybody has used this kind of setup yet? and how is it

cheers

What leads you to believe the factory size tyre combo does not work?

Welcome aboard,

Maybe I'm a bit slow but why? What's the attraction of a wider tyre? Better wear? Better control / traction? Better range of tyres available?

fireyrob - thanks for the recommendation on the BT45's - I'm just in the process of getting a set. 130 90 16 for my rear and 100 90 16 for the front.
I don't like the term insane - I prefer mentally hilarious!

Lol I would have to agree with woo9. The stock set up doesn't look attractive at all. Also the tyres just don't feel right to me, especially in the wet! Seen a couple of 250Rs with a 120/70 at the front and a 140/70 or 150/70 at the back. From what I heard performance isn't affected, apart from the bike being a little more stable. However, you got heavier tyres so you might be a fractionally slower (but it's a 250, so speed isn't the name of the game :D ) Regardless, the wider tyres look sweet!

i just cant accept the rear tyre looks so skinny. And i thought a wider tyre will be more stable. yeah, for 250cc we are not talking more about the speed but the enjoyable for everyday use and looks

mmm Stable, I wonder what the definition of the word is, between the two tyres pictured the one on the left should corner better / tip in quicker / steer faster. Looking at the profiles left is more sports orientated & the right more touring, based off the shape.
Just observations thats all.
