Exhaust Idea - opinions needed!

Hey all!

Well, as some of you know I had a short stint on a 2008 Busa while my 03 Z1000 was being fixed, but sold it once the Z was back together. However, I ended up keeping the exhaust off the bike, a set of Racefit Growler slip ons.

These pipes are some of the nicest kit I have seen, about 2 kgs for both pipes and all mounting hardware and very well made. I was planning on selling them to offset the trade in price on the busa, but no one wants a cheap set at the moment even though they are a bargain (I want about a $1200 as the RRP is about $2600 with baffles, pretty pricey!).

Any way, I was thinking the other night about trying to fit them to the Zed and what would be involved. One of my planned mods has always to get carbon or black pipes for the Zed, as the TRS titanium Yoshis that are on there are cool but not in the nice "blackout theme" that I think would look great on the bike.

Mounting points and brackets etc are no problems, so I assumed that all I would need would be link pipes to go from the stock headers to the Racefit pipes. I mean, this is all that the other brands do, correct?

I have emailed Racefit and they reckon that they don't do a set for the Zed but they could more than likely do up a set of link pipes for me, at a large cost of course.

So, I thought I might be able to get a local exhaust shop to do the same, however as these pipes are pretty nice I just don't want anyone hacking at them etc and I would like a proper job to be done.

I don't run a power commander at the moment with the Yoshi pipes, but it is something that I would look at in the future to make everything run smoother. Although, to be honest, I don't feel any problems with the bike at the moment!

So my questions are:

1. Does anyone see any problems with this? The Racefit seem to be a large diameter pipe compared to the Yoshis.

2. Could I get away with not having the fueling done without hurting anything?

3. Good exhaust shops in Brisbane - can anyone recommend someone who is capable of this?

4. Anything else anyone can think of?

Cheers,

Lawrence
