hi every1
noticed a pool of oil under the 250 last week and after ripping off the fairing i seen a crack in the rocker cover. after taking this off i found that what i think is the timeing chain has ground away and pushed through. am trying to find out if replacing it would be a home job for my brothers and i?
by the way its a 1990 zx2r model a.

thanks :D
(will upload pics when i find the cable :x )

Damn most unusual!

How long have you had the bike?

Have you had some work done recently?

Timing belt look worn? Might need replacing too?

its actually my older brothers bike, he rode it when he was learning and brought it about 14 months ago. not sure how many k's its done.
had a little drop about 3-4 weeks before noticing the oil and not sure if that could of contributed. im alittle confused cos when i move the chain it doesnt sway up or down much at all but thats the only thing that couldv caused the grinding :? ill post some picks of the chain by the end of the week

Your Cam chain tensioner is probably rooted...... try that first ;)

Just get the cover TIG welded, will cost bugger all and doesnt have to be perfect.
Make sure the welder doesn't warp it though.
I reckon the tensioner is dead too.

The tensioner is piss easy compared to pulling a new chain through & not farking up ;)
Availability of parts will be the main problem, try sumotherfarkers down there..... they "claim" to have heaps of spares

yer as said above, my zxr250 has a little bit of wear on the cover to, not as much as that though.
i will stand corrected if this is wrong but for a quick fix cant you liguid metal it?
there isnt oil pressure there is there?
