head stem bearing?

Postby Disco » Mon Sep 21, 2009 12:49 pm

For a wile now (over the last 2,000k's) the 6 has developed a clunk when under heavy break's and will do it a few times and then stop.....Also I have a steep downhill driveway and when I brake going down it it will to it too.....Could it be the suspension or headstem bearing?.....It should have been done at the first service yeah?.....

It could be just a little brake Pad slip!

turn ya handle bars left and right, if they clunk or have a knock most likely the bearings. Your bike is so new so shouldnt be clunkin yet!

Just changed the headset bearings on ZRX at 18000km, and they were stuffed. Not much grease in there from the factory. Front wheel bearings were shot too.

Yep just had the nines head bearings done at 145,000 ks and they were seriously rooted.Take the weight of the front wheel and slowly turn left to right.if there is a notchy feeling when the bars are straight thats a dead give away bearings shot.Mine were that bad i was having trouble lane splitting as the bars were pretty stuck straight ahead

its not the bearings, torque up the NUT that holds your top yoke on...the one on the top. then check all your nuts holding the forks in your tripples are nipped up tight..

This consultation is worth $11.40. I accept money orders and cold hard cash..

been there done that...

Ok rode it home done it again on the drive way.....I put the front brakes on and rocked back and forward and the bearing's feel tight....

With the risk of sounding stupid would this make a plasticky sort of clunk(almost sound like it's coming thru the fairing)? I checked none of the brake lines were catching anywhere and they aint....

Also if it was brake pad slip is it cause I'v glazed them over and can I just take em out and rough'em up :D.....
