Dual Compound Tyres ?

Ok, there's a few new dual compound tyres out there, 2ct's, road 2's etc. I have been running M3's on the somewhat porky 1993 GSXR 1100 and it has not been kind to them. Just wondering what other users of 200kg + bikes are using and what you've found. Sport/Sport Touring

I ride Sport/Sport Touring mostly and on a 200+kg bike. At the moment, I can't go past the Michelin Pilot Road 2. They grip like a Pilot Power, they have great feel and feedback till the very last 1000klms of the tyres' life and they outlast everything I have used in the last 20 years!! They are great cold, hot, wet and dry! They grip and last in summer and winter. The only place they won't grip is on Black Ice!!!!! :lol: :oops:

They also appear to handle dirt pretty well without tearing up too much from rocks etc., As a comparison, most other sports/touring tyres I have used last about 4-6k from a rear. The Pilot Road 2's last up to 10k from a rear!

I also used to run m3s on the zx9 then i tried dunlop roadsmarts and have been very happy with them.I normally hate dunlops as they are a bit squrmy but these roadsmarts are great andi get more ks out of them than m3s and they are better in the wet :lol:

Getting my second set of Pilot Road 2CT's today ... I reckon Ive got a solid 10k out of em ... being 6k touring and 4 k full on twisty riding. ;)

i was looking for something like this for the zx7r, since i will be riding it everyday to work. it has dunlop roadmasters on it now, but didnt know the pilot roads lasted that long. might have to look into them alittle better.

Michelins let go apparently.....with no warning.....well thats the Myth ! :shock:

Yeah dont get em' !! cause next time I want a set I want them to be in stock !!

ok i can highly recommend the Pilot Road2 for the rear you will get great milage and great grip, wet or dry and even when you spin em up they are very predictable however dont think about it for the front cause they suck arse, a pilot power front road2 rear combo worked awesome on the Blackbird and im sure anyone who has seen me ride will attest that i tended to punt the Bird around rather quick

That mix sounds good, would probably wear out evenly together as well.

As a set thats were the roadsmarts are better the front has lever let me down so if ya dont want to mix a set road and powers the roadsmarts are the way to go. :lol:

the road2 front is a power compound on the side, that are notorious for letting go..........without warning, and once they have let go, they stayed let go !!

(note: this is the fault of the tyres and has nothing to do with rider ability, bike set up into corners, improper throttle application, improper brake application, people getting ambition and ability mixed up, poor bike set up, rider steering ability or road conditions, or a factor of two or more of the above situations. Also written on the internets so it must be true, as those hero's can outride the ability of most if not all tyres currently on the market or have ever been on the market including the stickiest fuking tyres that the world has ever seen including motogp slicks at full temperature on a billiard table like racetrack similar to catalunya and/or the other legendary circuits of Europe.)


there shit, dont buy them, stick to M3's.

Yeah I guess no-one else has ever made a mistake pushing too hard :roll: To those out of the loop I low sided at Wakefield on the first lap with Road 2ct's.... Ambition over ability once again :lol:

I still think they're a great tyre and would recommend the road 2ct's to anyone!

dont know about that, i had a number of front end looses running a road2 front and it gripped again, never had that with a power, always stuck just doesnt give the feedback that other tyres do
Thing is there is always a trade off, if you want mileage then a Road2 on the rear is great all rounder
i want sticky so currently running Sportec K1 front K2 rear and by the looks will get maybe 2500 - 3000 k's but great tire

Mate, this was not directed to you, heaps of people crash first lap on cold tyres. in fact on cold tyres I can feel the bike walk around all the time.

That was directed to those who have opinions of bike accessories like tyres etc because they have read it on the internets..so it must be true.

I wish I had a dollar for every time blokes that cant ride out of sight on a dark night tell me that ' so and so ' brand tyres are shit. I dont think I ride any where quick enough to criticise any tyre on the market, except maybe Macadams ! :lol:

It's not that I have a particular thing for Michelins, hell I tried for BT016 last time I got tyres but they were out of stock, its the so called expert opinions on all brands that continually have me baffled, and the wierd sayings like "they let go all the time"....let me tell you people it's you not your tyres ! :lol:

Whats wrong with Macadam's ???? was doing cruisey 1:55's on a brand new BlackBird round the creek on Macadams :lol: :lol: :lol: but then i have been told im not quite right :kuda:
