zx2r starting issues....kind of!!

Postby dutchy » Wed Jul 15, 2009 11:48 am

my brothers are learning on a 1990 zxr250 (a) or zx2r, or whatever the fark it is. we're having trouble getting it started.
sometimes it'll keep winding till we kill the battery. rarely it'll just fire up immediately. If we try push starting it instead it WILL run immediately, and easily aswell.

Why would a bike be so difficult to electric start (and the starter is winding the motor at a decent pace), but so easily bump started? :x When i say easy to bump start i mean easy to bump start. Always runs first time.

Any ideas?

i think i have the same problem...does this bike have the 2 air intake tubes from the front? Cos mine does, if it starts i have to rev it over 8k to get it going, which i hate doing, otherwise it stalls, if its abit nippy then the choke on half usually works, but if it does die then mine does what yours does, it keeps ticking over, it doesnt even sound like its firing, but push starting with full choke works all the time after that...id like to get past this problem
