I recieved a VholdR recorder as a present and thought it would give great footage for road / dirt riding and other outdoor activities.
Attached it to the '9' just above the front right blinker on the faring.
No vibration which is fantastic, sound is only wind noise, focus and clarity is great, as for vision you have to be up the clacker (1-2 metres) behind the next rider to capture anything half descent, forget about any riders beyond the one in front of you, they are nearing a dot.
Being approved by Wayne Gardener I thought it would have been better quality.
It is only water, dirt and shock resistant not 'proof'. How's dirt riding going to go- NO GO- $500 down the drain.
$500 for this is way too steep, if it was $200 it would be a possibility.

The blue bike, thats not me, but some other idiot, on exactly the same make, model and colour.

I didnt take note of the details such as the brand or model, but the ones that they use at champions ride days are pretty good, well as good as the effort you put into mounting them. The mount with zip ties and gaffa tape worked well for the front one, but the rear was just gaffa taped on the blinker assembly and bounced around far far too much (but they're getting custom mounts made up for it & that ought to fix it). And the bargain is it records directly onto SD cards

So yes, not entirely helpfull, but at least pointing out that some of them work.

Fairnuff I bought a $200 one for track dayz & at the last one at EC we were told they cant be used anymore because thay were worried someones stack will end up on youtube farkers

thats interesting to hear....I better make sure the lippie cam is nice and *discrete* on the MFP12 for the December track day !! why are they worried about the footage of someone stacking ?? jesus christ soon they will be putting GPS-speed limiters on everyones bike !!! what a pack of wankers they are.....

BTW, I saw a couple of blokes at Oran Park trying to use the previous WG-approved video recorder.....it too was a piece of crap that cost far too much money.

I am really happy with the quality of footage from a $150 Jaycar lippie cam, and a $300 camcorder from Cash Converters.

i have a vholdr and i find it awsome to use, its light and produces excellent quality footage for what it is, if you want a better quality camera spend the $1500 dollars on some of the others and stop winging about the qaulity of something that costs a third of the price. go and check it out on the vholdr site
before the Vholdr i had one of those $200 jobies "Hero" thing, what a pile of crap, i may aswell strap my nokia to the front of the bike.
the best thing is there is no leeds or handicam in the back pack to get tangled and annoying.
Here is a link to my first attempt at editing a movie to post up on vholdr site using windows movie maker, the quality is no where near as good as the original footage, i cant do much about that as i only have movie maker to edit in and it does not produce real good movies, the home made DVD i have is tops though!!

I have no problem seeing the riders in front, but then i am right up on them, obviously some of you guys just arent fast enough!!! ha ha

Welcome to the club Ghosty ...nice fisrt post. The quality shown is ok for strapping the sucker to your helmet but as with most of these budget cameras once you bolt them to the bike they fail from vibration etc. They are useless now anyway for track days as all video cameras are banned at Eastern Creek & the Island

i will see if i can dig up some footage of it strapped up to my bike, i know i have a short movie on the hard drive somewhere.

I am looking into getting one of these at the moment.
The Panasonic SDR-S7 can be had for under $500 so the guess is dont waste your money VholdR

The S7 weighs just 180g and has the tiny dimensions of 41x59x102mm (W x H x D).
Same ones being handed out on Chanel 7 by the Olympic Presenters as a promotion fits in the palm of your hand
even has 1touch youtube download for those interested in sharing

if wayne gardner approves it id stay the fuck away from it!!!

Hey rob that looks like a pretty capable little unit, what are the specs on it? what is the quality like?
my vholdr weighs in at 140gms, it doesnt have a screen though
As for baby ninja, that is a bit harsh, wayne Gardner has done alot for motorcycling in Australia, i have even met him on a couple of occasions at the track, he gave me some good sound advice on my riding style, i took the advice on and shaved off .6 of a second a lap of EC!!

You can google the other specs & as for quality.......I will tell you if I get one, but I guess it would be better than the other rubbish I have tried

True, but like allot of people that have met WG would agree that sometimes he can come across as blowing his own trumpet to excess & a favorite of mine... at a recent track day our group was called so tire warmers come off & we wait at dummy grid then out of the blue with no announcement, WG goes out for his own personal 2-3 laps while we all wait for more than 5 minutes then go out on cold tires well guess what there was a crash on our first lap ... cold tires maybe? FFS they could have waited till after the session & not call us up if WG wants to take his pillion for a special ride! & I am guessing at no cost either!

point taken there Rob, but was that his fault or bad organisation on the officials part?
i am not going to have a debate over this subject, everyone has their own opinion.
my opinion is obviously higher than yours.
i have met a few of the "legends" of Australian motorcycling over the years, both road and off road, Wayne was the first to ever offer me any advice.
has anyone else out there met any "big Names" from the motorcycling community?
